Our Exciting Opportunity:

Ericsson Australia is growing! As a result, we are now looking for a Ops Software Testing & VL Eng who will be responsible for planning, undertaking testing, and deployment of new software into a production environment, network enhancements, and patches to the nbn Satellite terrestrial system utilising Project Management principles.

In this role, you would:

• Planning and undertaking testing to assure that effective and efficient acceptance into operations may include Business Readiness Testing and User Acceptance testing
• Perform Ground System Test Bed facility (“GSTB”) testing of software releases and/or network enhancements to the satellite-terrestrial system – where Methods of Procedure and release notes/documentation are provided to nbn/Ericsson
• Method Of Procedure Verification in the GSTB, resolving any issues with the Vendor
• Resolve any associated defects and issues with the satellite system Vendor
• Verify System requirements are met by running functional/performance tests
• Perform regression testing
• Report on progress and outcomes of the testing
• First-time deployment of the software into the production environment
• Coordination of the full Production rollout
• Support in replicating a problem experienced in the production network, to determine the root cause and verify the fix when it becomes available
• Maintain the associated testing schedule to ensure timely deployment of the software into production
• Ensure that the Test Bed is appropriately configured and aligned to the Production environment
• Occasional Testing Activities during weekends/after-hours should delivery timelines be required
• Provide support for infrastructures within the Satellite Earth Stations if required
• Develop and maintain associated job aids
• Focus on continuous improvement, innovation, and automation
• Develop techniques to trend data to identify issues and to develop processes for network improvement
• Ability to travel interstate at short notice
• May require After hours of work, overtime, and on-call

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

• Preferred 5 or more years’ experience within the telecommunications test equipment environment
• Strong Knowledge of Juniper/Cisco routers.
• Experience in systems administration in Linux or similar UNIX operating systems and Microsoft Windows
• Experience in SAN/ Storage maintenance
• Experience in VMWare or similar virtualisation platforms
• Experience in Network Management tools such as IBM Tivoli Netcool Suite
• Knowledge of programming languages such as C+, Python, Perl, or other, which could be used for the developing of monitoring tools and reports and for process improvement
• Preferred experience with Phyton scripting and automation
• Knowledge in internet communication Systems
• Knowledge in Satellite ground communications systems
• Project Management skills
• Manage regular interaction with vendors to track issues, resolution of the issues and network implementation of the resolution
• Understanding of ‘Problem Management’ processes and management of Issues
• Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in a high-pressure environment
• Good communication skills
• Continually grow in self-development of knowledge and expertise in relation to specific site equipment technology such as Routers, TWTs, Block Upconverters, LNAs, Block Downconverters, Tracking Servo systems and other RF/Antenna subsystems across multiple vendor equipment located on the sites.
• May need to have police clearance checks
