Total Synergy creates project management software for people who design and make our built environment (architects, engineers, construction designers). Our mission is to give our users #moretimefordesign through our product. We have been making software for our customers since 1999 — which was originally an on-premise application but now a pure cloud SaaS product built on Microsoft Azure cloud technologies. We’re currently the preferred software for our industry in Australia with over 12,000 users in our community. We’re growing that community globally, and now have an office and teammates in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Christchurch as well as the UK with new customers on five continents.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Right now, we are looking for a leader to be our Head of Finance, with a focus on overseeing, co-ordinating and participating in the development of our Total Synergy Finance Operations.

• Someone who can start Jan 9th 2023
• Great track record of working in a finance leadership role in a start up/scale up environment
• A people leader with articulate communication skills, both written and verbal
• Leadership and stakeholder management expertise
• Effective relationship building skills
• High attention to detail, and a love of numbers
• Problem solving skills – to identify, advise and execute
• Both strategic and operational skills to enhance Finance operations and the way things are done with continuous improvement in mind
• Exceptionally high level of honesty, integrity, care, commitment and responsibility
• Previous experience of SaaS is highly advantageous

Qualifications:

• You have accounting qualifications – either CA/CPA qualified
• You have outstanding Excel skills and knowledge of Xero
• You have the ability to translate the Financial posture of the business to the LT team
• 5 years plus Finance leadership expertise and overall experience spanning min 10 years within a finance technical ops role

WHAT YOU WILL GET TO DO

Reporting into the C – suite, with an approach to continuous improvements, you will be expected to;

• Lead the entire finance function for ANZ & the UK operations
• Create the strategy and direction for the function, in partnership with LT/the CEO
• Ensure the team are managing the payroll for Australian and UK employees efficiently and correctly
• Provide financial advice and guidance to the C – suite & Departmental Heads
• Streamline and enhance efficiencies to the month end processes
• Ensure the function produces P&L statements, including consolidation of accounts for 5 entities as well as the Monthly and Quarterly Management Accounts and Reporting Packs
• Set budgets and forecasting in partnership with the C – suite and leaders post business analysis every FY taking into account client, market conditions and our teams
• Ensure the finance team are preparing the submission of payroll tax (NSW, QLD, VIC), PAYE and BAS returns
• Keeping the LT team abreast on Cashflow management and forecasting on an ongoing basis
• Share the output of incentives and commission for all sales staff
• Enhance systems, policies and procedures for the Finance function to improve financial monitoring, accountability and growth
• Ensure the Preparation of end of year accounts is executed to high standards
• Manage the relationships of external accountants in Australia and overseas for year-end accounts and tax returns
• Provide performance insights that aid growth and focus on appropriate resource allocation
