We have registered an exciting opportunity for you to join as the newest Temporary HR Manager in this dynamic and supportive team. You will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of HR services and management of the HR operations team, ensuring that the Department is compliant and has robust internal processes. You will need to be confident providing clear and accurate instruction to staff at all levels.
Please note, this is a temporary position paid on a weekly PAYE basis. This full-time role will start immediately, so sadly candidates with a lengthy notice period cannot be considered.
Temporary HR Manager Responsibilities
Duties will include but are not limited to:
Manage the HR Operations function. Provide a full, efficient, effective and professional HR service, ensuring compliance with statutory and university legislation at all times
Line management of the HR Operations team, including responsibility for their pastoral care, welfare, development and training. Conduct Development Reviews (PDRs)
Monitor the effectiveness of systems and processes within the HR office, suggesting improvements and amendments to improve efficiency, overseeing the implementation as required.
Manage or support HR and university projects and initiatives as they arise and are delegated by the HR Manager
Work with the HR Manager to develop and deliver the departmental HR strategy and associated procedures ensuring that they align with University policy and deputise for the HR Manager as appropriate.
Support the HR Manager with data quality activity, compiling data and running reports from the HR database. Using this data to support the HR Manager with reports and recommendations to the Senior Management Team as required.

Temporary HR Manager Experience
Relevant education or experience, with membership of the CIPD (or equivalent)
In-depth knowledge of the recruitment process
Staff management experience and the ability to motivate others
Experience of the application of UK employment law and Home Office visa regulations
Previous experience of handling employee relations casework
Experience of HR information systems and producing management information reports.
Good general IT Skills, using Microsoft Office (E-mail, Word, Excel and the Internet)
Strong ability to communicate processes, procedures and policies verbally and in writing including demonstrating the ability to be professional, approachable and tactful
Demonstrable ability to use own initiative and work independently but knowing when to seek further advice
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to create excellent working relationships, including experience of working collaboratively within a successful team
Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities whilst still ensuring deadlines are met and tasks completed
An adaptable and flexible approach but with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Awareness and understanding of GDPR, information security guidelines and able to maintain confidentiality, tact and discretion with sensitive information
Ability to deal accurately and confidently with numbers
The Location
Our client’s head office is based in Oxford City Centre (OX1). Due to this location, there is sadly no parking available onsite, but it is close to public transport links.
This role will be an immediate temporary post, working 37.5 hours per week. You will work a hybrid setting, with 2-3 days per week on site and the rest from home. The role will be ongoing until a permanent replacement is sourced.
