As a Lecturer in Teaching and Scholarship, your role will be to support the University’s ambitious 10-year Climate Principles and Curriculum Redefined programmes focusing on formal and co-curricular provision of Sustainable Curriculum and education for sustainable development across the University. As part of a thriving cross-University sustainable curriculum team sponsored Professor Jeff Grabill (Deputy Vice Chancellor for Student Education) and led by Professor William Young (Academic Lead) and Professor Anne Tallontire from the Sustainability Research Institute in partnership with Thom Cooper (Professional Lead) and Clare Jackson from the Sustainability Service, you will provide our students with the knowledge, competencies and skills they need to have a positive impact in the world and to contribute solutions in our local community, and globally in an equitable and just way. This will include the wider adoption of cross university sustainability activities such as through dissertations and final year projects, student-led projects, elective and Discovery modules, student internships, volunteering and the Living Lab.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual with interdisciplinary expertise in Sustainable Curriculum and Education for Sustainable Development with experience of integrating sustainability and climate change into established taught programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels though formal and co-curriculum methods. The ability to collaborate effectively with Faculties, Schools and Professional Services such as the Sustainability, Student Opportunity and Digital Education. You should have evidence of motivating staff and students to integrate sustainability and climate change into their programmes and learning.
You will be based in the School of Earth and Environment and be part of a diverse and committed community of academic and Professional staff working across the University on our Climate Plan and Student Education strategy and will be expected to contribute to this work, including through the Curriculum Redefined process. This experience will provide you with deep cross-disciplinary experience and an understanding of the University as a whole. We are committed to excellence in Student Education, and you will participate in induction and training events tailored to educators and designed to support you to develop within your career.
The role also has a significant scholarly commitment, with individuals engaging in scholarly work on teaching and learning that is in line with Education for Sustainable Development and their discipline.
