About the role

From minor works to major infrastructure projects, the client has a proven record of civil engineering excellence. The Regional Civils business have a fantastic opportunity to join their team as a Pre-Construction Director to lead, co-ordinate and deliver bid and preconstruction activity in the North West region.

This key role will work closely with the Area Director and support the team by developing and implementing their work winning strategy. They will be in close partnership with our customers and suppliers, sharing skills and expertise for efficient project delivery, always with safety as a priority.

What you’ll be doing

The Pre-Construction Director will be a proactive member of the Regional Civils Work Winning team, contributing to the effective development and deployment of resources and sharing of best practice across the business.

You Will:

• Be accountable for the successful transition to construction stage and delivery of pre-construction contracts.
• Work closely with Area Director to ensure delivery of area orders budget.
• Support early customer engagement activities and advise accordingly on procurement, design, commercial and delivery.
• Provide training and development to resources working within the preconstruction stages.
• Ensure we have an effective pricing and commercial strategy as well as an effective planning and execution strategy.
• Liaise with Finance, Operational, Commercial, and Supply chain teams to develop and execute win and delivery strategies.
• Manage the team delivery of all design, early contractor involvement, preconstruction and front end engineering contracts through to hand over and start on site.

Who we’re looking for

This is a senior management role for an individual with a proven experience in successfully leading bids for multi-million pound projects.

You will have:

• Strong commercial, financial and business acumen along with political astuteness and an ability to achieve results through influence and collaboration.
• An understanding of the principles of procurement and experience within the most current forms of procurement.
• Previous experience in professional Bid Writing techniques, Bid Presentation and Bid Interviewing skills.
• A relevant professional qualification or membership such as building or quantity surveying or civil engineering is desirable.
• Customer centric approach with strategic insight to understand the range of opportunities.
• Strong leadership and communication skills coupled with an ability to form effective relationships with partners under time pressure.
• A desire to continuously pursue innovation and development, with a focus on the customer.
• The ability to build and inspire talented teams.
