JOB TITLE: Director of Finance

STATUS: Full-time, Exempt
JOB FUNCTIONS: Oversee financial operations of MRC. Responsible for all accounting, program data, and reporting in accordance with policies and procedures of MRC Industries and GAAP standards. Serve as a member of the leadership team. Serve as liaison with external Information Technology contractor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Management Duties
· Assist the CEO with long-range planning and goal setting for MRC Industries and work toward the achievement of overall agency goals.
· Develop goals and objectives for the finance and support services areas.
· Manage resources and implement strategies to achieve goals and objectives.
· Provide leadership and oversight to the finance department.
· Measure results by determining performance standards, determining critical data, and collecting data on a predetermined basis.
· Make recommendations for MRC policies and develop procedures for assigned areas.
· Assure that work is carried out in accordance with all applicable CARF, MDHHS, Medicaid, DOL, OSHA, and other local, state, and federal regulations, GAAP and MRC policies and procedures.
· Provide staff assistance to the MRC Board of Directors Finance Committee.
· Be responsible for assigned budget line items, assuring that expenditures occur according to plan.
· Assist with providing leadership for overall agency initiatives and special projects.
Finance Duties
· Develop, direct, and maintain the accounting system in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and other contractual requirements.
· Assure financial statements are completed monthly and present to the CEO, the Board Finance Committee and leadership team.
· Coordinate payroll processing.
· Supervise and prepare financial and statistical reports.
· Prepare or coordinate all fiscal reports required by funding agencies, federal and state regulations, insurance regulations, or sources.
· In conjunction with the CEO and leadership team, prepare the annual operating and capital budgets.
· Work with the CEO and other management staff to determine costs, yearly overhead factors, profitability of contract work, and production costs.
· Direct systems analysis work as needed.
· Supervise the annual audit.
· Establish and review internal control procedures.
· Review and approve payroll and related reports and insure that all federal and state requirements are met.
· Prepare the financial data necessary for grant applications, funding requests, loan sources, or other occasions as appropriate.
· Monitor and control cash at all financial institutions.
· Coordinate Information Technology operations with external contractor.
· Coordinate liability insurance coverage and policy renewal.
· Participate as a member of the agency’s leadership team and attend other meetings as deemed necessary by the CEO.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
· Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field required.
· Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field preferred.
· Minimum five years’ experience and advanced working knowledge of accounting systems for an organization with a complex funding structure and a budget with a minimum of $3,000,000 required.
· Experience with payroll processing required.
· Previous supervisory experience preferred.
· Proficiency in automated accounting systems required.
· Experience with development of and management of budgets required.
· Ability to analyze complex financial information, problem solve and make recommendations and decisions based on information analyzed required.
· Ability to understand and apply complex regulations required.
· Excellent verbal and written communications skills required.
· Excellent organizational skills required.
· Experience with risk management and knowledge of applicable insurance coverages required.
· Must have a valid Michigan Driver’s license. Availability of licensed, insured, vehicle for use on the job is required.
· Criminal records, driving, drug and Recipient Rights screening are required for this position.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Must possess manual dexterity needed to operate a computer keyboard, calculator and other office equipment
· Must be able to sit at a computer workstation for prolonged periods of time
HOURS: Full-time (40 hours per week)
PAY RANGE: $65,240 – $97,860/year plus full benefits
