This is the job

As Technical Accounting Finance Lead, your focus will be on IFRS17 and technical accounting and control of the group consolidation related to this standard.

You will be responsible for oversight of the more technical accounting areas of the group across a number of subsidiary statutory accounts and ensuring accuracy of reporting across the AA main legal entities including the group’s debt and pension accounting.

What will I be doing?

• Focus on IFRS17 group financial control and technical accounting
• Responsible for ensuring the designated legal Entity and designated subsidiary statutory accounts reflect the group controls, control frameworks and accounting standards/ interpretation
• Responsible for preparation of information for certain notes for the consolidated statutory accounts for AA Limited and prepare consolidated accounts for AA Intermediate Co.
• Responsible for ensuring Group and relevant subsidiary accounts follow IFRS17 requirements
• Responding to financial accounting queries from across the Group as well as drafting accounting papers for group accounting matters (e.g. debt, pensions) and supporting the business financial controllers and Head of Group Reporting with more technical items.
• Responsible for compliance with IFRS & FRS 101 accounting policies and including impact assessments for new accounting standards. This will require management of key stakeholders including the business Finance Directors and business Financial Controllers.
• Responsible for oversight of month end procedures and forecasting of the AA’s IFRS17 consolidation adjustments
• Assist with monitoring of balance sheet reconciliations across the group.
• Carry out any ad hoc analysis and project work as required by Director of Finance-Controls and Technical Accounting e.g. refinancing (alongside Group Treasurer and Head of Group reporting).

What do I need?

Capability, Knowledge and Experience:

• Experience gained in an accountancy practice environment with proven knowledge of all aspects of financial control.
• Very strong technical accounting knowledge and experience
• Highly numerate with good communication skills, both verbal and written with strong report writing skills
• Excellent and proven stakeholder engagement and management skills

Education and Qualifications:

• Qualified accountant ACA
• Post qualification experience
