Core Responsibilities

You’ll spend your time working in one of our product teams focused on Commerce Platforms & Experiences where we build both front end applications and back end APIs (Next.js + GraphQL front end with Node.js microservices backend in AWS) to enable shoppers and consumers to place orders on LEGO.com and associated channels. Our engineers work in interdisciplinary squads each arranged around clear product goals with responsibility for delivery of their own product roadmaps.

• Lead the engineering effort in one of our dedicated squads working on the LEGO.com platform
• Lead the solution design and build of efficient and reusable solutions for some of our largest and most complex requirements
• Actively lead engineering strategy for an area of Marketing & Channels Technology focused on both current requirements and long-term direction
• Proactively sponsor and mentor senior engineers across an area.

Working closely with our Principal Engineers and Engineering Managers, our Lead Engineers are a vital part of the LEGO.com engineering team. We have implemented a modern front-end stack based around Next.js, React and GraphQL with a cloud-native AWS serverless back-end, and we use the platform to design, build and operate LEGO.com and our wider shopper technology platform.

Do you have what it takes?

• Expert knowledge of TypeScript, JavaScript, APIs and Markup
• of modern JavaScript-focused front-end frameworks and technologies – Node.js, Next.js framework, React and associated libraries and tooling including GraphQL (Apollo), Webpack, Babel and Jest
• A proven track record of working in a resilient and scalable microservices’ environment – our API event-based services layer utilises Node.js and is built mainly on the AWS Serverless stack – Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, Kinesis and DynamoDB
• In depth experience of working with modern CI/CD and engineering tooling – we leverage Amazon Web Services, GitHub Actions and Terraform extensively
• Extensive experience working with technical and commercial partners outside of your own team
• Able to effectively delegate engineering tasks to balance your workload and enable individual growth of other engineers
• Lead by example to create a safe, inclusive and practice engineering culture
• Be an active contributor to open source or inner-source initiatives and communities and be recognised for your thoughtful and considered contributions
