Industrial Light & Magic Hiring for Senior Manager, Finance and Accounting Job at Sydney Full Time

ILM Australia is seeking a Senior Manager, Finance and Accounting to join the team on a 12-month contract and be a part of a team supporting the continued growth of ILM.

The Senior Manager, Finance and Accounting will be responsible for overseeing all activities necessary to provide finance and accounting support to the ILM Australia office. The role has primary accountability for ensuring compliance with accounting standards, ASIC regulations, GST, FBT, local tax and transfer pricing regulations. The role will provide expert analysis, interpretation and business advice on all levels of accounting and finance. Works with discretion as to work details on assignments of a varied nature. The ILM Australia accounting and finance department is a team of 5 across accounting, production accounting and payroll. As the business continues to grow the role will manage and develop the team to support the continued growth.

Responsibilities:

• Overseeing all financial administrative functions and decision making for the Australia studio.
• Partnering with the ILM Australia executive leadership team to continue to lead the studio growth, providing expert advice and analysis on growth strategies and projects.
• Work with Global ILM teams and local finance team on the implementation of a new accounting and reporting system for ILM.
• Overseeing all FP&A requirements including working with the ILM FP&A team on 5 Year Plan, annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, overhead and CAPEX planning and analysis.
• Ensuring ILM Australia is compliant with ASIC regulations, including working with the local TWDC Legal team on Corporate Secretarial requirements.
• Ensuring ILM Australia’s compliance with accounting standards, preparation of annual Statutory Accounts including lease accounting in accordance with AASB16, and leading the annual audit on the ILM side.
• Ensuring compliance with tax and reporting requirements including GST, FBT, Income Tax and transfer pricing. Working with local TWDC tax teams to ensure tax reporting and filing are completed accurately and on time. Working with TWDC International teams on quarterly and annual income tax forecasting and transfer pricing.
• Completing reporting on training partnership with NSW government and ABS, WEGA and other government sector reporting as required.
• Overseeing the month-end close, providing variance analysis and information related to capital and operating expenditures.
• Managing capital expenditure approval and purchasing process such as writing or reviewing business cases for CAPEX approvals including NPV analysis, reviewing invoices and tracking purchase orders against budgets and ensuring compliance with TWDC CAPEX policies.
• Overseeing the transactional accounting functions for ILM Australia. Including:

• Billings for re-billable costs, accounts payable, employee expenditure claims, timesheet reporting and banking.

• Revenue recognition in compliance with accounting standards and in conjunction with production accounting and SF AR team.

• Working with Treasury and ILM Controllership to ensure adequate cash flow to support operations.

• Ensuring all expenditures are tracked via PO system and verifying budgetary approval of all large operational and capital expenditure requests.

• Reviewing and approving monthly payroll and yearly payroll tax filings, ensuring compliance with state and federal payroll legislation.

• Reviewing and tracking leases, contract commitments, equipment and maintenance agreements for the Australia studio.

• Overseeing and approving all travels and expenditure claims related to the Australia studio.

• Maintaining familiarity with current technology as related to the company’s assets.
• Managing and developing a finance team of 5, including identifying areas for training and growth, annual performance reviews and helping to guide career paths of team.
• Completing special projects as assigned.

Here are the skills and experience you need to be successful in this role:

• Strong computer skills and proficiency in Windows, Excel and MS Word required.
• Oracle knowledge/skills ideal and experience with an OLAP database a plus.
• Experience working with government agencies a plus.
• Must be flexible and have the ability to work well as part of a team.
• Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and with all levels of personnel.
• Diplomacy, discretion, confidentiality, versatility and reliability are critical.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
• Ability to operate well in an environment of change and occasional ambiguity.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance. CPA/CA preferred.
• Eight or more years related accounting experience in equivalent positions.
