Salary: £20,000-£24,000 (Depending on Experience)

Location: Newcastle (hybrid working)

Contract: 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

This is the job

As Finance Assistant, you will provide a service to our internal customers, suppliers and employees following set processes and procedures in support of Insurance Finance. Specifically, this role will help maintain financial control of our policy administration system.

What will I be doing?

• Process transactions within the accounting and policy systems, ensuring proper authorisation in accordance with departmental guidelines and group risk control and audit requirements.
• Maintain financial records and process all documentation accurately within agreed timescales.
• Ensure the efficient and accurate reconciliation, control and distribution of card, cheque and BACS payments to/from customers ensuring appropriate authorisation at all stages.
• Complete month end routines, to produce financial reconciliation of the various control and bank accounts as necessary, whilst producing balance sheet reconciliations as appropriate.
• Receive, investigate and promptly resolve customer, supplier and employee queries providing advice and guidance as requested.
• Create and maintain excel spreadsheets and formulas, documenting the process and ensuring data integrity.

Capability, Knowledge and Experience:

Essential:

• Financial experience and skills
• Good Excel skills
• Data gathering, system interrogation and analysis skills

Desirable:

• SAP experience and skills
• Knowledge of finance/accounting policies and processes

Education and Qualifications:

• Educated to GCSE for entry level
• Studying for AAT (desirable)
