The incumbent must have a positive team attitude and exhibit excellence in Customer Service. The Postal Clerk must be able to maintain proper postal records, and adhere to the standards set by the Canada Post franchise agreement. The capability to work with store management to develop and execute marketing plans for business growth would be a real asset.
1. Acknowledge and greet all customers in a friendly and respectful manner.
2. Sell Stamps and money orders.
3. Process special deliveries, registered mail, express post and customs parcels.
4. Follow stated procedures for the processing of incoming and outgoing mail and faxes.
5. Prepare mail for pickup.
6. Accurately maintain the required post office books and records.
7. Keep the post office neat and tidy and maintain Post Office security.
8. Provide customer support for photocopy services, as directed by Management.
9. Carry out any additional duties as delegated by Management.
10. Ensure all store training is completed within required time frames.
11. Maintain a professional image, including complete uniform, name tag, and proper
grooming.
12. Follow all store opening and closing procedures.
13. Operate cash register according to store policy, verifying customer purchases and issuing
receipts.
14. Inform customers of in store promotions, pricing specials, etc.
15. Assist with customer inquiries and call for assistance when needed.
16. Ensure staff and customer safety by addressing or reporting potential barriers or hazards
on store property.
17. Communicate to Management any issues requiring follow up or needing attention.1. High School Graduation is preferred. Aptitude for retail math and basic computer operations. .
2. Some retail or cash handling experience preferred.
3. Attendance at courses as required by the Post Office.
4. Complete all in store training as outlined by store management.
5. Maintain a professional image and proper grooming, including store complete uniform and
name tag.
6. Ability to communicate clearly and courteously with customers.
7. Personality; enthusiastic, flexible, conscientious, methodical, logical, precise, patient,
organized, assertive, does not assume things, remains calm under duress.
8. Ability to do repetitious work accurately, with attentiveness to customers and supervisors.
9. Experiences including cashiering and knowledge of store product preferred. Can stand for
long periods of time.
10. Possess strong communication skills and attention to detail.
11. Ability to work flexible shifts including evenings and weekends.
12. Possess a positive, cooperative, and team-oriented attitude.
13. Organized, honest and communicates well.
14. Personality; enthusiastic, flexible, conscientious, precise, patient, does not assume things,
remains calm under stress.
15. Have a strong sense of ownership for roles and responsibilities and take pride in a well maintained store.
