Neurotech Consultancy Limited Hiring for Experienced Specialist Mentor – Mental Health Job at Remote Full Time

Role Specification:

We currently have an opening for a Specialist Mentor who will work remotely with students with a mental health diagnosis following their DSA Needs Assessment, supporting their emotional well-being and addressing any concerns they may have while studying in higher education.

The role involves working in person or online on a one-to-one basis, supporting the student to mitigate the impact of their condition on their studies.

As a specialist mentor, you will provide specialist, specifically tailored support to enable students to overcome barriers to learning created by a particular disability (e.g., various mental health issues) and to develop students’ skills for autonomy and success in the learning environment.

The support you provide will be student-led to include: motivation, goal setting, empowerment, emotional well-being, organization, time management, and social skills, amongst others.

Person Specification:

• Possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
• Flexibility in work to accommodate students’ need
• Respect confidentiality agreements and data protection laws while maintaining your professional boundaries.
• Possess problem-solving abilities as well as empathy, tact, and sensitivity
• Empower the learner by imparting methods and approaches for resolving issues
• Using coaching and mentoring methods to remove learning obstacles
• Knowledge of the academic and social challenges that face university students
• IT-savvy with the skills and abilities to provide remote support
• Possess an enhanced DBS certificate (or be willing to apply for one)

Essential Qualifications and Training:

You will be educated to degree level and must have membership of (at least) one of the following organisations:

• Chartered British Psychological Society (BPS) member or IAPT register
• Graduate BPS member and PG qualification in Psychology/mental heath
• Association of Child Psychotherapists
• British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) accreditation
• British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) individual or MBACP
• British Psychoanalytic Council Member
• Counselling and Psychotherapy in Scotland (COSCA) accredited member
• FDAP National Counsellor Accreditation Certificate (NCAC)
• General Medical Council – Psychiatry
• Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) – Arts therapist/occupational therapist/ practitioner psychologist/social worker in England
• Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) accredited member
• Nursing and Midwifery council (NMC) – mental health nurse/community mental health nurse/ psychiatric nurse
• Social worker body for Scotland SSSC/Wales CCWales/NI (NISCC)
• UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) full clinical individual member
• University Mental Health Advisors Network (UMHAN) Member.
