Kingston University is a UK Top 50 University (Guardian University Guide 2023) providing outstanding teaching and learning to over 18,500 students across four faculties and four campuses. With over 70% of the University’s research submission rated as world-leading or internationally excellent in REF 2022, we are proud of our transformational contribution in tackling a broad range of internationally important issues and providing our students with a modern, innovative estate in which to further their prospects and careers. Crucially, we are one of the most inclusive institutions in the country with an international outlook and commitment to cultural diversity
At Kingston, our recently launched Town House Strategy, named after our award-winning Town House building, will transform our students’ education by embedding the Future Skills sought by business and the professions across our curriculum. Our Future Skills Campaign puts forward proposals to help tackle the country’s skills shortage, and Kingston University is leading the way in highlighting the importance of skills for innovation and the vital role they play in driving a thriving national economy. We are deeply passionate about the transformative effect of university education and strive for our students to be sought after for their academic achievements. The Town House Strategy and the Future Skills Campaign are fundamental drivers to our vision of an innovate and inclusive Student Services Directorate.
To lead this Directorate, we are now seeking an Executive Director of Student Services to embed the Kingston Future Skills student journey ensuring our graduates are prepared for the changing global situation. In addition to providing high quality, student-centred services that enable students to make the most of their time with us, they will also collaborate with academic leaders to embed graduate attributes, creative problem solving, adaptability, resilience, empathy, enterprise, self-awareness, and digital competence for every student in every course. They will oversee every aspect of the student lifecycle and experience and put students at the centre of all that we do.
Reporting to the Vice Chancellor and working collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team and the wider university, the Executive Director, Student Services will play a vital role in supporting and delivering our institutional strategy, focusing on excellent support throughout our students’ time with us.
Embracing our values of Inclusion, Innovation, Ambition and Enterprise, candidates should have experience of leading and managing pan-institutional teams at a senior level within the higher education sector and have substantial knowledge of student support services, engagement, and employability initiatives. They will have experience of policy affecting students and of working with external agencies, government departments, and professional regulatory bodies concerning student matters. This is a crucial and exciting appointment for the University, playing a pivotal role in defining, developing and implementing strategies, policies and decisions at an institutional level and directly contributing to the student experience.
