Technical Accounting Analyst

In areas such as Hedge accounting, FRS 101 reporting, working on statutory audits with Big 4 by being directly in contact with statutory auditors, as well as good opportunities to work on technical accounting memo are a few interesting responsibility areas.

You will be responsible for the preparation of statutory accounts for EDF Energy’s legal entities and co-ordination of the annual statutory audit. The preparation of hedge accounting, reporting & forecasting throughout the year. Performing technical accounting research to ensure UK Group accounting policies are appropriate for the business, consistently applied and in compliance with relevant International Financial Report Standards (IFRS) and Group policies, whilst receiving support from the Senior Technical Accountants.

The opportunity…

As a Technical Accounting Analyst, you will be responsible to produce statutory accounts under FRS101 for companies with various principal activities, ensuring alignment to financial and legal reporting requirements. To contribute to the production of UK Group IFRS consolidated accounts and co-ordinate with internal stakeholders and liaise with external auditors for review and smooth audit process and to ensure timely filing of accounts.

You will also prepare hedge accounting journals and reporting on a monthly basis using excel models, as well as forecasting information for hedge accounting. Whilst also preparing derivative and hedge reserve financial statement disclosure for the consolidated and individual statutory accounts.

You will be required to research technical accounting topics to understand the accounting impact of proposed transactions. To support discussions within the business to ascertain implication of proposed accounting treatments and co-ordinate the annual technical accounting training programme delivered to UK finance teams. As well as provide vital support to the Head of Technical Accounting, Technical Accounting Manager and other members of the Technical Accounting team as required.

What we’re looking for…

You will be a recently qualified accountant with relevant experience in hedge accounting, audit of or preparation of financial statements under IFRS / FRS101. You will also understand IFRS and a desire to develop through applying accounting standards to industry transactions. Proficient Microsoft office skills and IT skills, particularly large Excel model spreadsheets.

You can work independently and identify key issues with the ability to seek out necessary resources. Demonstrate drive and commitment towards achieving targets and committed to challenging the way things are done to provide continuous improvement. Good attention to detail and monitors own performance against expected results/outcomes, whilst continuing to develop of skills and knowledge.

You will have a strong commercial, numerical and analytical ability. Acting with complete integrity and confidentiality always.
