Our client is a successful multi-disciplinary consultancy who have an urgent requirement for a Senior/Principal Engineering Geologist/Geotechnical Engineer in Winchester.

They provide planning and engineering design services to a wide range of clients across the UK, working across a wide range of sectors including Commercial, Residential, Health, Education and Defence. In support of continuing growth, they have a position for a highly skilled Senior/Principal Engineering Geologist/Geotechnical Engineer to work with and support their civil and structural engineering teams.

This role represents an excellent opportunity for someone with talent and drive to be part of the existing team to grow and lead by example and create a successful and enjoyable work environment.

The ideal applicant will have

• A minimum as 6 years post graduate within the ground engineering sector.
• The ability to manage and check work being undertaken by less experienced staff.
• A proficiency in the preparation of Preliminary Sources Studies (desk studies).
• A thorough understanding of geological, geomorphological, and geo-environmental processes.
• Ability to scope well considered intrusive investigations.
• Well-developed ground modelling skills.
• The ability to present work pictorially, both in plan and section using GIS and CAD.
• An ability to liaise effectively with specialist contractors, clients, regulators, and other stakeholders.
• Good knowledge of soil and rock mechanics, and groundwater control.
• Good knowledge of earthworks and ground improvement techniques.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• 4 years’ in the preparation of interpretive ground engineering reports.
• Design of foundations (ULS and SLS).
• Specialist analytical geotechnical software (slope stability, settlement, soil strengthening, anchoring etc).
• Leading projects and representing your company in Design Team Meetings.
• Costing and quoting for professional services.
• Competent in the design of foundations (ULS and SLS). Assessment and specification of ground improvement.
• Design of earthworks, the assessment settlement, and slopes, using specialist analytical geotechnical software.
• Design of soil retaining structures / ground reinforcement.
• Proficient in the preparation of technically accurate interpretive GIR’s, GDR’s and GFR’s.
• Presentation of work to the highest standards.
• Sound commercial and contractual judgement.

Salary £30,000 – £55,000
