The salary range for this position is $60,000 – $62,000 at
Assistant Professor rank. The salary of the finalist selected for
this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including
but not limited to, internal equity, education, experience,
specialty and training.

Position Summary
The Department of Political Science at Metropolitan State
University of Denver invites applications for a full-time
tenure-track position at Assistant Professor level to begin in the
fall 2023. The Department is particularly interested in candidates
that can teach and have a promising research agenda in one or more
of the following fields – International Relations, Comparative
Politics, International Studies, or Comparative Public Policy – and
will contribute to course offerings on Latin America, East Asia or
MENA, or whose substantive global/transnational public policy
expertise lends itself to contributing to courses in one of these
geographic areas.
Regardless of specific policy or area focus, we seek a generalist
that should be able to teach introductory courses in International
Relations and/or Comparative Politics, as well as courses in
qualitative and/or quantitative research methods. A normal course
load is three courses per semester (9 credit hours), and as such,
the department seeks applications from candidates with a strong
interest in teaching and engaging our students, as well as a
pursuing an active research agenda. The Department is comprised of
dedicated teacher-scholars who seek a colleague with a similar
approach to academia and share MSU Denver’s commitment to

Duties/Responsibilities
The successful candidate will teach three courses per semester,
which include broad introductory courses in International Relations
and Comparative Politics, and research methods. The successful
candidate will also be expected to teach upper-division courses in
their area of expertise, as well as courses that meet the needs of
the department. This position requires a commitment to excellence
in teaching a diverse student body; student advising activities;
scholarship; and service both within the university and the
profession or community.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in political science or closely related field. Advanced ABD
candidates are welcome to apply, however, the degree must be
conferred by July of 2023.
