Purpose

The National Director of Sales is an integral member of the Senior Leadership Team of the AIM Institute for Learning & Research and reports directly to the Office of the CEO serving as Director of the AIM Institute. This position advances the AIM Institute for Learning & Research mission to ensure all students and teachers have access to evidence-based literacy instruction through leading work across the country to help increase awareness of why reading matters for student success. The National Director of Sales is responsible for supporting the sales processes and ensuring that sales consultants have an avenue to fulfilling their sales goals. The National Director of Sales will work closely with each consultant to ensure they meet their individual sales quota and the team to ensure goals are met.

This position provides an exciting opportunity for someone who strives to be a continuous learner of evidence-based practices and literacy research and wants to contribute to the success of a growing organization. The National Director of Sales will work closely with state, district and system leaders to assist sales consultants with successfully implementing AIM Pathways products and services. This position works in a cross-functional environment, supporting and assisting in other business areas. This position will allow a highly motivated person to apply their expertise to positively impact the course of education across the nation.

A significant aspect of this position is the recruitment and retention of a consultative sales team that is national in scope. This sales team works remotely and covers large, multi-state territories. The position requires expertise in sales strategy and sales success in meeting overall revenue goals that are national in scope. Client satisfaction and thought leader partnership are key. Preference is given to candidates with a track record of client acquisition and retention.

Preference is also given to candidates with knowledge of the educational technology landscape including state mandates for literacy learning across a wide range of state agencies.

Responsibilities include the following:

Planning (10%)

• Participate in developing and presenting all aspects of the AIM Integrated Literacy Model (AIM ILM) to prospective and existing AIM Institute clients.
• Develop and plan a comprehensive national sales strategy.
• Develop and maintain relationships with AIM institute clients.
• Organize and categorize sales lead information into Salesforce.
• Create strategies and processes for the optimal use of Salesforce.

Training and Coaching (20%)

• Delivery of training and coaching to the current sales team to increase opportunities and closed sales for AIM products.
• Maintaining accurate records of all training and coaching interactions with consultants.
• Develop a full understanding of all AIM Pathways courses,

Communication (20%)

• Will be responsible for the timely communication of all training/coaching notes to AIM Institute Senior Leadership, consultants, and clients as needed.
• Will promptly inform on any outstanding issues in the field and will actively collaborate to resolve or improve.

Sales/Consulting (50%)

• Responsible for selling AIM Pathways products and services directly to potential clients.
• Leads weekly sales meetings, creates agendas, and collaborates with other internal AIM Institute stakeholders to ensure the sales team processes support the sales team members’ success.
• Supports sales consultants with follow-up and reporting with clients and leads through the sales cycle.
• Leads sales and expansion meetings: including working with client/stakeholders to plan logistics, prepare materials, and ensure ongoing communication.
• Works across teams to create price quotes and proposals.
• Identifies opportunities by monitoring competitor activity.
• Uses industry knowledge to identify new clients and potential new markets to meet revenue targets.
• Serves as a thought partner in marketing efforts and uses expertise in the K – 12 education market to generate leads through various marketing channels.

Travel (up to 20%)

• National travel will occur related to organizational needs and for professional learning, as needed. The amount of travel will be monitored to ensure it is appropriate for both the organization and the Director. Currently, all travel depends on the pandemic’s status and the comfort of AIM Institute staff.

Qualifications

• Willingness to work alongside a dynamic, highly collaborative, and mission-driven team.
• Passion for learning and staying current with the latest research in Literacy. They will also possess strong communication and organizational skills and an aptitude for technology.
• Master’s or Doctorate in Business Management, including 3 years of prior sales experience and management of sales accounts and sales teams.
• Salesforce software experience.
• Strong background in research and evidence-based literacy instruction.
• Experience in data analysis reporting and needs assessment analysis.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and attention to detail are required.
• Knowledge of social media platforms is a plus.
• Promote AIM Pathways courses, products, and services through various channels, including but not limited to social media, webinars, and conferences.
• Provide regular reports to senior leadership on sales metrics, opportunities, and challenges.
• Sales Team annual sales goals, including, but not limited to, Revenue Goals, Client Retention, New Customers, State RFPs, and Partnerships, will be determined every year with the supervisor and serve as annual goal statements.

Salary and Benefits

We offer a highly competitive compensation and benefits package for eligible employees. Additional benefits include life insurance, 403(b) retirement plan with automatic company contribution, and thirteen (13) paid holidays. In addition, full-time employees receive an additional 8 days of PTO over AIM’s spring break and winter break.

Pay: $125,000.00 – $175,000.00 per year
