Assistant Management Accountant – Hobbycraft Head Office, BH23 6HG

Salary £30,000pa dependent on experience- Pension with a 4% contribution, 25 days holiday increasing every year, 25% discount in our stores plus many more!

This is a full time role working 37.5 hours. Our core business working hours are Monday to Friday – 10am to 3pm so we are very flexible with start and finish times

About the Role

This role is part of the management accounts team of four, within the wider finance team of 20+. The team prepares Hobbycraft’s monthly internal reporting, accounting journals and balance sheet reconciliations.

In addition, the team is responsible for preparing the annual budget and ensuring that the wider business manages expenditure within budgeted levels.

This role will assist the Senior Management Accountant with the above, focused on the accounting for Property costs relating to an estate of 115 sites.

Key accountabilities

Acting as the primary contact in respect of Property costs, liaising with third parties as required.

Ensuring that costs are recorded accurately in the accounting system (Navision), with accruals and prepayments applied correctly, in the following areas:

Rent, rates and service charges

Insurance

Utilities

Repairs and maintenance

Assisting in the budget process for all Property costs.

Supporting with the accounting for capital expenditure relating to new stores.

Preparing balance sheet reconciliations as part of the month-end process.

About You

Essential skills

Competent user of Microsoft Office applications.

Experience of working in a financial environment, with an understanding of basic accounting principles.

Desirable skills

Microsoft Excel skills, with experience of working with formulas.

Experience of operating in a multi-site business or a medium/large organisation.

Actively studying towards an accounting qualification (such as AAT/ACCA/CIMA).

Personal competencies

Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

A proactive approach to work, taking full accountability for outputs.

A committed team player who can work independently whilst remaining aware of the wider objectives of the tea
