Who are we looking for?

Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking a Sessional English Language Programs (ELP) Educator to join , Education Portfolio, Academic Division.

ELICOS teachers required for 21st Nov 2022 – 3rd Feb 2023 to: • Teach up to 25hrs per week on GE/EAP/ST/IELTS prep. classes. • Invigilate and participate in language proficiency assessment. • Mostly F2F delivery with some online concurrent teaching possible. • Assist with course administration and student consultation, including • Completing all required class-related and assessment marking.

About the QUT College
QUT College delivers English Language, University Entrance and Foundation programs to international and domestic students with an emphasis on pathways to QUT faculty programs. QUT College comprises two suites of programs, English Language and University Entry Programs to assist students to meet English Language and/or academic entry requirements for university degree programs, as well as to improve their English for personal, professional or academic purposes.

What you need to succeed

You will demonstrate:

Selection Criteria

1. A bachelor’s degree with postgraduate qualifications in TESOL or a postgraduate qualification with a significant TESOL component plus equivalent of five years full-time teaching experience.

2. Expert knowledge of English language teaching to speakers of other languages and demonstrated high standard of teaching across a range of English Language proficiency levels and programs.

3. Demonstrated experience in varied modes of delivery: Online, Concurrent and Face-to-Face.

4. Experience in English language proficiency assessment, student progress evaluation, testing and marking and program administration, especially student attendance recording requirements pursuant to Australian Federal legislation.

5. Demonstrated ability to work as part of team using high level interpersonal communication skills to work collaboratively with colleagues.

6. The flexibility and pragmatism required to work effectively in a dynamic and changeable teaching environment.
