South Portland School Department Hiring for Adult Education Director Job at South Portland, ME Full Time

The Director of Adult Education will oversee the management of the adult education program including, but not limited to: high school completion, college transition, vocational, enrichment, academic and career advising for adult learners. In addition, the Director will be responsible for the expansion of our adult English language classes through our Strengthening Maines Workforce (SWP) grant. The Director is responsible for supervising staff across the range of curricular programs and ensuring academic standards are met and. The Director is responsible for fiscal management of Adult Education including local, state, and federal funds and reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages all aspects of the adult education programs efforts to meet mission and goals.Oversee the launch of new community embedded ESOL classes and grant-funded (SWP) collaborations.Hires and supervises adult education staff.Prepares budgets.Prepares and submits federal, state and grant specific reports, data and audits of adult education records.Represents the program in local, state and national activities designed to promote adult education. Meet with interested adult learners, complete intake forms and assessment testing, and enroll new learners in appropriate adult education classes.Manage local HiSET testing center providing as necessary or appropriate student assessment and instruction, data and records management, and serving as an examiner.Seeks effective and successful partnerships with local and regional businesses and nonprofits when necessary and/or appropriate.Plans all aspects of adult education programming for South Portland.Oversees marketing and communication efforts for all programs.Performs related work as needed.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises and evaluates staff members as the Superintendent may designate.
