This is an exciting opportunity for you to actively contribute to the development, brokerage and delivery of an effective and safe support offer to parents who opt to provide education for their children at home – or at home and in some other way which they choose – instead of sending them to school full-time. All in all, you will have the determination and the passion to drive forward good practice in the Elective Home Education Sector. This involves working together with parents, supplementary education providers and multi-disciplinary partners to ensure that Elective Home Educated (EHE children and young people in Birmingham receive suitable education, at home and or , in some other way which parents choose

In our newly formed Children and Families Directorate, we’ve a strong Education Early Help and Safeguarding service. The Education Safeguarding Service is the strategic single point of contact for all schools and Education services regarding safeguarding issues. This Local Authority offer is aimed at ensuring that all Schools and Education Services in Birmingham are effectively supported to fulfil their Duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE). The service works closely with the Birmingham Children Safeguarding Partnership and the Children’s Trust to develop good early help and safeguarding practice. The service also positively engages with private and voluntary sector providers to support them understand the Local context and to ensure consistency, relevance, and sufficiency. In addition to fulfilling the Local Authority’s statutory safeguarding duty to support schools, the service has a comprehensive traded offer of school improvement regarding safeguarding policies and practice. All in all, you will have the determination and the passion to drive forward good practice in the Elective Home Education Sector. This involves working together with parents, supplementary education providers and multi-disciplinary partners to ensure that Elective Home Educated (EHE children and young people in Birmingham receive suitable education, at home and or , in some other way which parents choose. As part of a Safeguarding Leadership Team, you will provide day to day operational leadership in your service area and line management of 2 Team Managers .
