We are looking for a Asst. Accountant possibly with reception experience and an accounting qualification to provide support to our small and friendly accounting team. There is lots of scope to learn and progress in this role.

The Made in The Shade Group unites venues and services owned and operated by Michael and Zara Madrusan: The Everleigh, Heartbreaker, Navy Strength Ice Co., The Everleigh Bottling Co., Connie’s Pizza, Bar Margaux and Connie’s Italian Diner.

Every Made in the Shade venue or product is born out of a desire to break new ground in Australia’s hospitality scene and define standards of service. Our motto is ‘People before Drinks’, and we are looking for a recently qualified Accounts Payable person to join our small finance team.

About the Role:

This is an important role as you will provide vital support to the accounting team, with focus on the Accounts Payable Function. You will liaise and build strong relationships with our suppliers as well as our operations team across the Group. A welcoming and warm disposition, possibly with reception experience and accounting qualification would be ideal. Duties will include:

General support to the finance department

• Help with bookkeeping and preparing financial reports
• Support the month end financial close process
• Support on special projects with the opportunity to lead projects

General office administration tasks

• Accounts payable functions:
• Maintaining regular communication with our creditors and internal procurement team and building strong relationships; communications include regular credit updates and resolution of queries
• Timely capture and processing of supplier invoices; verify accuracy of supplier invoices ensuring payment amounts & records are accurate
• Preparing payment runs and reconciling business accounts against supplier invoices
• Perform supplier statement reconciliations
• Prepare weekly creditors reports
• Managing petty cash transactions
• Complete supplier credit applications

Required Skills and Experience:

• Accounting degree
• Experienced in working in hospitality preferred but not essential
• Computer literacy, working knowledge of MS Office suite, Xero and Excel. Familiarity with Lightyear and Dear systems would be a plus
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with strong attention to detail
• Great at building rapport and maintaining relationships in person, email and over the phone
• Confidence in dealing with internal and external stakeholders ensuring confidentiality at all times
• Strong problem solving, decision making and analytical skills
• Warm and engaging on the phone
• Highly organized and adaptable to change
• Able to work collaboratively within a team and on your own at times
• A positive and ‘happy to do anything to help’ sort of person
• Able and willing to put milk in the fridge and water the plants or empty a bin
• Able to complete work on schedule
• Impeccable manners
