The accountant is a member of the accounting team that obtains financial data for use in maintaining accounting records by performing the following duties.

The essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following Accountant Duties:

• Responsible for maintaining knowledge and compliance of funding agency’s fiscal regulatory requirements by reading, monitoring, and researching regulations; coordinates any changes needed to current policies and procedures with Chief Financial Officer/CFO, Director of Finance, and Supervisor of Accounting.
• Prepares accounting entries to include Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and journal entries.
• Assists team members in the proper coding of expenditures.
• Maintains depreciation schedule
• Handles asset and liability balancing
• Prepares monthly financials
• Reviews monthly financials and reports to monitor and evaluate actual revenues and expenditures and compares them to corresponding budgets; advises management and develops recommendations for the resolution of budgetary problems including but not limited to possible transfers or spending modifications.
• On a monthly basis, reviews all expenditures to ensure they are charged appropriately, and meet reasonable, allowable, and allocable standards.
• Requests funds according to program/agency instructions.
• Prepares and submits timely and accurate reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis in compliance with funding agency requirements.
• Reconciles bank accounts monthly
• Prepares, organizes, and maintains files to ensure complete documentation and adequate audit trails in accordance with funding agency and CHS requirements.
• Meets monthly with the Accounting Supervisor and Director of Finance to review expenditures, funding, budgets, aging reports, protocols, assessments, financials, policies/procedures, and all related reports and spreadsheets.
• Presents oral and written reports to management and funding regulatory agencies, as needed.
• Assists with annual audits.
• Inputs budgets
• Completes and submits a Personnel Activity Report (PAR) monthly.
• Performs scanning of required paperwork.
• Assures the confidentiality of information regarding individuals served.
• Responsible for knowledge and implementation of agency and departmental policies and procedures
• Accepts and willingly carries out special assignments or duties, when requested
• Promotes a positive Safety Culture as necessary to make CHS a safe place in which to work by reviewing and following safe work practices and policies.
• Must obtain and maintain certifications as listed for this position in HRD-P-22 Training.
• Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS) in related field plus two years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience to equal six years.
• Project management experience, time management and organizational skills are desired.
• Knowledge and experience with accounting software and Microsoft Excel are required.
• Must provide valid driver’s licenses and have driver’s insurance. If the name does not appear on your driver’s insurance, you must provide the proper documentation, or letter, as proof of insurance.

SHIFTS: (FT 40hrs.) Mon-Fri:8am-5pm

PAY RANGE: $26.00-$32.00/hr.
