Lyka is a D2C fresh dog food company. We deliver lightly cooked, human-grade meals, as a subscription service to dogs all over Australia. All of our nourishing dog food recipes are formulated by our own in-house vet who has over a decade of experience in formulating natural diets.
Our company began when our founder, Anna, went on a journey to improve her dog’s, Lyka, health. Anna started creating a homemade diet for Lyka and, in just a few weeks, Lyka had more energy, less tooth decay, and a healthier coat.
Since then, Team Lyka has grown to an ambitious and like-minded set of dog-lovers with a single shared goal: to serve our customers and their puppers with the best possible food on the planet. From improving digestive issues in puppers to bringing back the youthful energy in seniors – we’re getting closer to our mission every day.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The role’s main responsibilities are:

• Preparing and presenting financial reports including P&L, Balance sheet, operating results, and cash flow forecast to management for better decision making.
• Evaluating and supporting development forecasts, budgets and production planning and preparing in-depth analysis on any variances against budgets and previous reporting timelines
• Providing an accurate and timely financial report to the business in line with Australian accounting standards and statutory requirements
• From time to time maintain and implementing internal controls in the business and review their effectiveness on a regular basis throughout the year.
• Liaising with operational staff in relation to administrative and reviewing work by bookkeepers and providing training and support, as required.
• Providing assurance about the accuracy of data presented to governing bodies.
• Analysing business’s year-end financial reports (profit and loss statement/balance sheet) and advising management on tax-related matters, such as tax benefits, tax planning, and tax issues when requested.
• Managing payroll & all payroll liabilities including PAYG, Superannuation and the fixed asset register including disposals and depreciation schedules.
• Tracking fixed assets and preparing depreciation schedules.
• Liaising with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and other associated regulatory bodies when required by the respective authorities and regularly reviewing taxation systems and controls to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Collaborating on internal and external audits.
• Preparing and analysing financial and operational budgets conducting risk assessments regularly and providing timely reports to the management with recommendations.
• Preparation of detailed comparative financial analysis of business and project performance for management’s review.
• Securing financial and accounting information by regular database backups and upgrading computer-based accounting systems.

Salary range: $60,000 – $80,000

Role: Full-time

Requirements:

Tertiary degree in Accounting or Finance.
2+ years of experience.

Skills and Competencies:
Strong working knowledge of accounting concepts and standards.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong MS excel and word skills
Demonstrated experience in computerised accountancy systems. Experience with XERO and Netsuite is desirable.
Strong attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with team members at all levels.
