Equality Focus Hiring for Mental Health Mentor (Higher Education) Job at London, England Full Time

Equality Focus has a long standing reputation for providing an outstanding service to disabled students in Higher Education and we are looking for experienced mental health mentors to join our team.

We are seeking individuals with experience of supporting people with mental health conditions to join our agency to work with students as a specialist mental health mentor. The work is in various universities but at the moment we are looking for mentors to work with students across central London and key areas such as Greenwich, Ealing and Kingston.

The role involves delivering 1:1 support to students with mental health conditions and working with them to mitigate the impact of this on their studies. We are looking for mentors who are able to encourage students to become effective independent learners and to help them achieve their academic goals.

All applicants must be suitably qualified and must have membership of one of the following organisations at the level (s) indicated.

• Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP) – Full member.
• The British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) – Accredited membership.
• The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) – Registered Member MBACP (Accred)
• British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) – Under a member institution –
• British Psychological Society (BPS) – Chartered Member (CPsychol)/IAPT register/ Graduate Member (MBPsS) AND a PG qualification in Psychology or Mental Health.
• Federation of Drug and Alcohol Practitioners (FDAP) – National Counsellor Accreditation Certificate (NCAC)
• General Medical Council (GMC) – Psychiatry – Full member or above.
• Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) – Education and training programmes approved as a route to registration – Arts Therapist/ Occupational Therapist/ Practitioner Psychologist/ Social Worker in England
• Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) – Accredited member
• National Counselling Society (NCS) – Accredited Registrants (MNCS Accred), Accredited Professional Registrant (MNCS Prof Accred),Senior Accredited Registrant status (MNCS Snr Accred),NCS Fellowship (FNCS).
• Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) – Mental Health Nurse/ Community Mental Health Nurse / Psychiatric Nurse
• UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) – Full clinical individual member
• The University Mental Health Advisers Network (UMHAN) – UMHAN mentor member.
• Association of Christian Counsellors (UK) -Accredited Counsellor

It is also desirable for applicants to have experience of working with people with mental health conditions in a University environment.

Mentors can join us on a freelance or payroll basis, the hours are flexible and dependent on student referrals.
