What your day to day will look like:
As you dive into root causes, you’ll develop deep BI&A insights, set KPIs and OKRs, and write reports to communicate ideas and drive continuous improvement.
You’ll work with a group of talented BI Analysts and Data Engineers to design solutions and contribute to the implementation of large-scale projects. With a deep understanding of data tooling and trends, you’ll design the team’s tech stack and framework from the ground up. Initially, the role will require that you roll up your sleeves and support your team by closing escalated tickets with SQL and PowerBI. Your team will look for mentorship and career growth as you lead by example. We’ll look for you to scale the team as you iterate on a team structure that moves with the purpose to meet SLAs.
Oversee and lead a large and/or highly complex, and diverse analytics function for an area of significant risk, complexity or scope
Strategically partner with leadership teams on the management of the portfolio and financials, with deep industry, external/internal, and enterprise knowledge, recognizing and anticipating emerging trends and; identifying operational efficiencies and opportunities with other business management /enterprise areas
Act as a “Single Point of contact’ for key Analytics initiatives including partnering with analytics teams and enterprise data and analytics capabilities
Act as analytics expert on advanced analytics projects, challenging analytical thinking and methodology
Facilitate key strategic discussions and provide thought leadership to the executive audience (output may include strategic roadmap and/or deliverables/frameworks/short to long term goals etc.)
Set operational team direction and partner to execute on common goals
Manage teams of Business Insights & Analytics professionals/specialists
Ensure team collaboration with partners on business problems/issues and provide fact-based analytical advice that aligns with strategy and drives shareholder value
Manage raised client issues or priorities and contact appropriate areas to resolve or minimize business problems/issues
Apply judgement, discretion and collaborate with internal partners to navigate and resolve ambiguous issues
Review and craft the presentation of insights for executive leaders/business partners to drive strategic improvement
Collaborate with business partners to shape and prioritize ad hoc analysis
Use data systems and various sources to ensure the team is equipped to formulate well-defined solutions to solve business problems
Ensure the team uses knowledge of data capabilities across the organization to build and deliver on business analytics and insights
Oversee the development, testing and ongoing analysis of a business line or functional area employing both internal and external data from various sources
Manage workload of analytics team; assigning data requests to staff based on skills and development needs
Build understanding of big data and advanced analytics capability
Identify and articulate key LOB analytic needs and assist in accelerating their delivery
Oversee strategies to attract, motivate and retain a highly diverse, qualified and engaged team to fulfill current and future business needs, creating and sustaining a high-performing inclusive culture
What you’ll need to succeed:
Must have a minimum of 5 years progressive experience in a data focused role with proven experience in scoping projects including at least 3 years of Project Management experience and leading intermediate level direct reports
Must have an education in data sciences or relevant field
Certifications in Scrum or Agile considered an asset
Expert level Excel and proficient in SQL/ Python
Strong career focus in data and solid understanding of data languages
High degree of diplomacy and business acumen when dealing with internal and external stakeholders
Supportive and proactive management style with the ability to effectively delegate to your team leading with empathy and support.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to form effective working relationships throughout all levels in an organization
