Are you an experienced java software engineer looking to return to your tech career following a break? Tech Returners provides the UK’s only free ‘Your Return to Tech’ programme designed to support returners back into successful tech jobs.

At Tech Returners, we partner with businesses focused on hiring inclusive and diverse tech teams – this enables us to offer a course that’s totally free to individuals. Our upcoming ‘Your Return to Tech’ programme starts in October 2022 with interviews to be conducted with hiring businesses in January 2023 – kicking off an exciting start to your year!

The programme:

Our award-winning, ‘Your Return to Tech’ programme involves two weeks of pre-journey induction and eight weeks of utilising the Java language and working with the popular Spring framework. You will be supported throughout, by our team of knowledgeable and dedicated tech coaches and mentors who collectively hold almost 50 years of combined industry experience.

We understand that getting back to your career in tech, also means getting back to yourself and regaining confidence. Therefore, during the programme, you will also receive career and mindset management support which includes growth mindset, confidence building, and interview preparation.

What you will learn:

• Java focused syntax
• Refreshing on object-oriented concepts
• Latest Java approaches such as Lambda functions
• Design principles and clean code
• Testing and Test-Driven Development
• Creating and testing API’s
• Interacting with storage from APIs such as a database
• Consuming other API’s
• Fun API focused group project
• Working with the Spring Framework

Are you eligible?

• You will need experience of a role in software engineering with hands-on coding, had a career break and be committed to returning to technology via the ‘Your Return to Tech’ programme.
• You must be a UK resident to qualify for this programme unless you fit within the below requirement
• If you’re not a UK resident but reside within the UK, you must fall under the ‘skill shortage’ visa or any appropriate right-to-work visa (You will be asked to submit visa evidence as part of your application).
• Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks may be carried out
• You will need to take ownership and have the curiosity to work on different projects collaboratively and independently
