Senior Program Manager, Professional Education – 501592

This position is responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of programs that generate positive net revenue for the school and meet the learning needs of a diverse community of businesses, non-profit entities, and professional organizations. This position develops, implements, and manages programs and courses that are in alignment with the strategic plans of the School of Professional and Continuing Services (SPCS).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Management

• Creates, manages, and monitors substantial (7-figure) program budgets
• Develops and implements business plans to ensure delivery of innovative and financially self-sustaining programs
• Manages program content for professional development
• Plans each semester’s course offerings
• Develops and manages school’s professional education partnerships and course offerings with third-party partners
• Leads the implementation of learning technologies
• Plans professional certificate program launches and graduations
• Identifies and develops education outreach projects and strategic community partnerships
• In collaboration with the Associate Dean and colleagues in SPCS negotiates and writes contracts and agreements
• Serves as legal liaison for education service providers, university partners, and business partnerships for professional education programing

Business Development

• Develops a strategic plan for future professional education outreach and development
• Explores different program and pricing models
• Negotiates contracts with strategic business partners and clients
• Researches, identifies, and develops strategic partnerships to expand professional education offerings and generate new revenue streams

Departmental Administration

• Supervises and manages professional education team
• Develops, manages and monitors professional development budgets
• Assists the associate dean in developing strategic plans for professional education programs
• Participates in school-wide committees to increase awareness of programs
• Facilitates training on policies and procedures of professional education programs
• Acts as a super-user and trainer for the professional education registration system
• Oversees policies, approves and processes scholarships for professional education programs

Marketing and Outreach

• Develops long and short-term marketing strategies
• Works in collaboration with the Senior Director, Marketing & Engagement to produce brochures and other publications
• Writes course descriptions for web catalog (at least 100 courses) and for each of the printed seasonal catalogs
• Proofreads and edits all content in catalogs, as well as program-specific brochures and promotional materials
• Creates marketing plans and timelines for each new program
• Sets up and staffs promotional booths at special events, trade shows and conferences
• Makes public presentations to civic, business and educational groups and institutions
• Works with local media to promote programs and events
• Participates in local community and professional membership-driven organizations and activities
• Ensures that SPCS is represented as sponsors in annual events related to programs that are offered
• Develops partnerships with local organizations and local media to provide educational courses and services

Instructor Development

• Manages up to100 professional education instructors:
• Makes recommendations for salary, promotions, and/or terminations
• Proposes and negotiates relevant contracts
• Interviews and hires non-credit instructors
• Provides training for new and existing professional instructors
• Ensures compliance with university policies and procedures
• Develops and maintains instructor resources
• Plans and provides oversight of all events
• Updates Professional Education Faculty Handbook yearly

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s Degree required
• Master’s Degree preferred
• Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in adult education, program management, non-profit management, event planning, or related field preferred
• Certified Program Planner, CPP preferred
• Certified Faculty Developer, CFD preferred

WORK HOURS:

• Full-time, exempt position
• Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; 7.75 hrs./day; 38.75 hrs./week; required to work after-hours and on weekends as needed
