Are you passionate about addressing social justice and sustainability? If so, our service-minded AmeriCorps team needs your help!
Climate change is here, increasing the size and frequency of natural disasters and displacing over 15 million people each year. Hurricanes like Ida, Harvey, Maria, and Katrina disproportionately affect under resourced communities, whose road to recovery often takes years. SBP is dedicated to shrinking the time between disaster and recovery, work that includes helping individual homeowners and communities rebuild after a disaster.
As a Volunteer Coordinator, you will design and facilitate an extraordinary volunteer experience that empowers individuals to join SBP in our mission to shrink the time between disaster and recovery. Imperative to SBP’s sustainability, Volunteer Coordinators bolster long-standing relationships with our volunteer network while creatively identifying new ways to recruit and promote external engagement with the organization.Â
Volunteer Coordinators handle all volunteer logistics, support volunteer fundraising efforts that directly support the AmeriCorps project, speak with energy to large groups of volunteers about the work we are doing before and after their volunteer build, communicate with multiple departments to ensure volunteers have a quality experience, and spread the word about local outreach events. Volunteer Coordinators must be comfortable expressing thanks, talking about the state of the recovery, and articulating the ongoing need for support. Volunteer Coordinators serve as the point of contact for multiple volunteer groups that register to volunteer anywhere from a day to a year in advance, answering all questions, relaying all updates, and documenting logistics.
