About us

Twelve Oaks Software Ltd is a small bespoke development agency involved in a range of projects and technologies. Working primarily on Greenfield projects – defining the technology stack of before handing-off to the client team for ongoing support and maintenance.

The Job

We are looking for a UK based mid-level Web Designer interested in learning new technologies, working on interesting projects, and being involved in the decision making process on these projects.

Experience with web design and basic web frontend development. The opportunity to perform mobile app design and to expand on your development skills is also available but is not necessary.

We frequently work with frontend frameworks such as ReactJS and libraries such as Material UI, Bootstrap, and Tailwind. Experience in these will be appreciated but is not at all required.

You will work within the development team to produce effective designs and quality code. We work with Peer Reviews to establish quality and therefore you may be instructing both senior or junior developers on new techniques.

In this role, you will be trusted to work independently with little supervision and be able to propose novel or emerging technologies to use within projects provided a sound justification. You should have excellent organisation and problem-solving skills.

Your goal will be to develop high-quality designs and software that is aligned with user needs and business goals.

Responsibilities

• Design and code effective web pages and UI elements
• Identify, estimate, prioritise and execute tasks in the software development life cycle
• Develop tools and applications by producing clean, efficient code
• Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting
• Review and debug code
• Perform validation and verification testing
• Collaborate with internal teams and clients to fix and improve products
• Document development phases and monitor systems
• Ensure software is up-to-date with latest technologies
• Enable junior staff to improve their skills by your example and feedback

Skills

• Proven experience as a Web Designer*
• Knowledge of design trends and purposes for mobile and desktop*
• Basic knowledge of web and API development*
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript frameworks (SASS, React, etc)*
• Understanding of mobile and desktop browser limitations*
• Ability to work independently*
• Experience using automated testing frameworks
