If that’s struck a chord with you, then perhaps you’d be a great fit for the new HR Advisor position in our team. This role is offered on a fixed term basis starting in early September until end of December 2022.
The opportunity
As a HR Advisor you will work closely with your HR Manager to support managers and employees in your business areas. You’ll develop a deep understanding of your areas and proactively offer solutions and ideas to situations and will support managers in upskilling and understanding how to apply HR practices and policies.
This is a busy and varied role and you’ll get stuck into everything from talent management, reward and employee relations through to coaching and guiding our managers and employees through topics such as wellness.
You’ll play a key role at each stage of someone’s time with us – from welcoming them on their first day, partnering with the L&D team to support people to learn and grow, helping people plan their family leave, and supporting career progression.
We also know that working life doesn’t always run smoothly, so being able to support managers and employees through the more difficult moments with compassion and pragmatism will set you apart.
There is some admin to do and to oversee, and supported by the HR Admin team you’ll make sure our people get the information they need at the right time. Having a hawk-like attention to detail, while keeping on top of a busy workload is important. Experience of working with HR databases would be a real plus here.
About you
You don’t need to have worked with books or in publishing before. We’re interested in hearing about your HR experience from different industries, and from different perspectives. What’s important to us is your approach, being able to connect with people at all levels, and bringing them onside. If you love getting under the skin of a problem, finding creative solutions and doing this in a fast-paced, busy environment, this could be your perfect next move.
The minimum criteria you’ll need for this role is:
Experience working within a generalist HR role, either at entry level or as an advisor
A good understanding of employee relations, across sickness absence, disciplinary and performance management
Experiencing working with a range of different stakeholders at different levels of seniority
Excellent attention to detail is a must – you need to have experience of working with lot’s of different types of data and ensuring your work is accurate
Being confident in owning your relationships with stakeholders – you’ll need experience building relationships and working with managers and employees and feeling confident in giving advice and guidance on a range of HR processes.

Salary: £28,000 – 31,000 depending on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus selected benefits.

For this role, there are meetings and activities that you will need to attend in person (mainly at our offices in Nine Elms & Pimlico). The exact balance of office to remote working will depend on the nature of your role and team needs, and we are open to discussing this through the recruitment process.
