About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Accounting/Finance Professional to lead and manage the day-to-day accounting and compliance team/function within our pharmacy services division. Reporting to the Financial Controller (Pharmacy Services), the Assistant Finance Manager provides leadership in technical accounting issues and is the driver of implementing best practice. This role operates in a full-time capacity and is based out of our Brisbane HQ with hybrid working models available.

Key Responsibilities of the role include:

Technical

• Ensure the integrity of the General ledger and all transactions
• Ensure reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts are completed in a timely and accurate manner at the end of each period including a detailed review and action items completed
• Establish and/or redefine SOPs for all financial procedures
• Collaborate with operational stakeholders to ensure data from operational systems are accurate and comply with internal controls
• Assist with the budget and forecasting process
• Analyse and communicate financial accounting reports and commentary across the organisation (KPI’s for debtor days, inventory days, compliance)
• Identify data gaps, recommend and establish solutions as applicable
• Ensure all reporting deadlines are met with consistency and accuracy
• Ensure local and federal government lodgement obligations are met

Leadership

• Lead and supervise Financial Accounting Team with effective communication, using Iconic goal setting and individual development plans
• Liaise with and encourage all financial accounting team members to perform tasks required for end of month
• Ensure team members knowledge and skills are adequate to fulfil operational requirements
• Develop people to meet both their career goals and the team’s goals

Selection Criteria

• Degree in Accounting / Finance
• CPA / CA / CIMA qualified
• Minimum 4 years post-qualification commercial experience and at least 2 years of team leadership experience
• Audit experience with a Big 4 accounting firm highly regarded
• Experience in Healthcare industry highly regarded
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics will be beneficial
• Strong technical accounting skills, particularly in IFRS
• Understanding of monthly management reporting processes and prior experience with co-ordinating and completing monthly reporting cycles
• Good understanding of financial accounting processes and internal control environments
• Ability to communicate with all levels of management in different areas of the organisation
• Good understanding of financial accounting and reporting systems with a capacity to interpret the financial reporting
