Position Title: Teacher (Grades K-5)
FLSA: Non- Exempt

Reports to: K-12 Principal

Carolina International School is seeking a school administrator to partner with our leadership team and faculty to support the mission and core values of our school. This is an ideal opportunity for a dynamic individual to play an integral part in growing and shaping the future of CIS.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Effectively builds positive and healthy relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

• Ability to create and sustain a positive and healthy classroom environment using high expectations.

• Create units and lessons that are aligned to the NCSCS, purposeful, and clear.

• Effectively implement research-based teaching methods and strategies including, but not limited to differentiation, small group instruction, flexible grouping, project-based learning.

• Integrate Environmental and Global studies into units and lessons.

• Conduct formal and informal assessments on a biweekly basis using the data to inform instruction.

• Strong understanding of the NC Standards for their content and the ability to create plans aligned to the standards.

• Evaluate needs of students and adjust material and instruction accordingly.

• Create personalized learning plans to address the individual needs of the students.

• Create opportunities that allow students to thoughtfully discuss, reflect, and critique information.

• Ability to analyze and interpret data and use information to create small group, individual lessons for remediation or enrichment.

• Adapt teaching styles and methods to meet the individual needs of all students.

• Maintains evidence of student learning and progress through records and data.

• Work closely with Support Staff and Administrators by using regular and ongoing communication about students’ academic, social, and emotional progress.

• Coachable with a quickness and willingness to implement changes.

Community Engagement & School Culture

• Uphold and adhere to the core values of CIS within the school and the community.

• Maintain a fair and equitable classroom and mindset.

• Establish an inviting classroom atmosphere that promotes discussion, critical thinking, and risk-taking.

• Respond to family concerns promptly and efficiently.

• Communicate with families on a weekly basis and hold families accountable.

• Adhere to the schoolwide behavior policy.

• Participate in and contribute to all required events, activities, committees, and schoolwide initiatives.

• Establish collaborative working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and families.

• Receive and provide objective feedback to and from administration, colleagues, and students.

Additional Duties/Responsibilities:

• Participation in a minimum of one committee.

• Participation in assigned morning and/or dismissal duties.

• Participate in peer observations and feedback meetings.

• Scheduling and planning field trips.

• Actively participate in all professional development, curriculum opportunities, and Profession Learning

Communities (PLC).

Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in the content area, education, or related field

• Minimum of 2 years teaching experience.

• NC Licensure preferred or should be working toward licensure.

• Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication.

• Knowledge of educational technological resources.

• Excitement about with a diverse faculty and student population.

• Excited and passionate about teaching, learning, and professional growth.
