Accounting Specialist

The Accounting Specialist will provide accounting support to major financial accounting areas, including the accounts payable desk, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliation. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and thee support budget and forecast activities. The Accounting Specialist will have regular contact with the executive team and the firm’s Accountant which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

• Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
• Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.
• Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.
• Compiles and sorts documents, such as: invoices, work orders, checks, vouchers and substantiates business transactions.
• Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as: funds received and disbursed; totals accounts to ledgers or computer spreadsheets and databases.
• Investigates problems that vendors or purchasing agents have with obtaining payment for bills.
• Tracks company credit card charges and reconciles statements.
• Prepares vouchers, invoices, checks, account statements, reports, general ledger accounts with various registers; extracts general ledger information; compiles cost revenue reports, and balances sheets; reconciles bank statements.
• Monitors accounts payable, and receivables to ensure that payments are up to date.
• Supports budget and forecasting activities.
• Work with the Firm’s Accountant to ensure a clean and timely year end audit.
• Collaborates with the other managers to support overall department goals and objectives.
• Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
• Assists in the training and supervision of clerical personnel.
• Maintains and updates attendance employee records.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Five to seven years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Proficient in Quickbooks for MAC OS and Excel
• Ability to work in a fast-paced ever-changing environment.
• Ability to organize, prioritize work and meet deadlines
• Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills

Hours:

20 – 25 hours per week with considerations for flexible scheduling/Full time possible

Salary:

$30/hour

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour
