About the role
You’ll be joining Scout to take ownership of all things finance, currently being managed by the CEO and COO. You’ll be an all-rounder, looking after all things finance related, from day-to-day tasks, to more strategic financial forecasting. You’ll be implementing new processes and improving existing ones, looking to create a streamlined and efficient finance function. You’ll be ensuring the accuracy of invoicing and accounting processes, providing financial information to senior leadership as well as a deep dive analysis of financial performance on an ongoing basis.
Aside from the hands-on management of the finance department, it’s important to us that you truly embed yourself into the culture of Scout, getting to know the wider team and building strong relationships.

Key Responsibilities:
Improving current processes and where necessary, implementing new processes/software in line with best practice
Managing the day-to-day company financials
Managing monthly payroll, end-to-end
Managing accounts payable/receivable, and ensuring overdue invoices are chased and rectified promptly
Financial forecasting – ensuring that budgets and forecasts are accurate and realistic and prepared in a timely manner with regular updates
Generating month end/year end reports
Liaising with our external accounting firm on day to day queries around payroll as well as yearly management accounts.
Experience with multicurrency and intercompany accounts (specifically US entity experience desirable but not essential)
Handling VAT returns, PAYE and Tax
Contribute to the growth, and shaping of the scout business as we continue our journey to becoming a leading name in the embedded talent space.
We’re pretty open minded, but we think you’ll likely be able to show the following experience:
Previous experience in a generalist Finance Manager role, in a lean finance team
You’ll likely be qualified/part-qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
Evidence of process implementation and improvement
Previous experience working in a finance role in a start-up business, setting the function up from scratch.
Experience using Xero (desirable)
Super organised
A need to ‘over communicate’
