This role will be either Grade 6 or Grade 7 depending on experience.
The post holder will work in close partnership with the GHTU team in close communication with Chief/Principal Investigators and will be responsible for all aspects of the data management process, including development of project documentation, database set-up, overseeing and support data collection and validation, data administration, archiving and sharing.
Purpose of the role:
The post holder will provide support and technical expertise in the management and processing of clinical data within assigned projects to ensure that they are executed accurately and within set timelines. Primarily, the trials will involve phase I, II, III and IV trials for the evaluation of new medicinal products or new uses of existing products and typically include public health trials and/or surveys evaluating different health care or disease control strategies. Most of the Unit’s studies focus on diseases affecting people in low resource settings, including HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, pneumonia and neglected tropical diseases, for which we will provide training and opportunities to gain familiarity.
You will be part of the GHTU, which conducts research in infectious diseases, in low- and middle-income countries across the globe. Our aim is to deliver clinical trial services, within a GCP envelope, in challenging environments and to provide partners with the necessary tools to conduct research in a pragmatic but efficient manner.
The successful candidate will be based in LSTM but could be expected to travel overseas periodically for short periods of time to engage and support our partners. In agreement with the head of the GHTU, the candidate will also provide more general ad hoc data management support and advice for other research activities within LSTM.

The Candidate:
o A degree or equivalent qualification in a biomedical/scientific/statistical or allied field, or commensurate experience in clinical trial delivery.
o Strong self-sufficiency and initiative working on MSSQL database.
o Evidence of training in Good Clinical Practice
o Programming experience in data management such as MS access, MS SQL, SAS, Stata, etc
o Experience of working in clinical trials, with a particular experience of working with clinical data.
o An aptitude for large and/or more complex relational databases including query/report writing and a full range of data verification, cleaning techniques.
o A good understanding of CRF design and management.
o Experience of transferring data between different software packages (including secure transfer over the internet)
o Knowledge and behaviours that support equality, diversity, and inclusive practice
