Position: Project Manager (Highways)

IR35 Status Determination: Inside Off Payroll Working Rules

Rate: £500.00 per day – all in rate

Length of Contract Assignment : 5 months

Start Date: Immediate Start

Environment: Major Civil Engineering/ Construction Projects & Maintenance business.

Location: Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire

The Company and Group:

A true global Business and a major player within the UK Civil Engineering and Infrastructure construction and maintenance sector supporting high value flagship projects.

Our client has an extensive portfolio of capability and experience delivering all highways civil engineering requirements. Their diverse range of services include public realm improvements, junction improvements, car parks including park and ride facilities, footways, cycleways and other infrastructure for non-motorised users, carriageway construction and surfacing, draining improvements, signalisation, road lining and carriageway studs and more.

Summary:

This £2m highway construction project is based in the Milton Keynes area and includes drainage, resurfacing and traffic management control.

The Project Manager will be responsible for key deliverables and ensuring that client expectations are met whilst maintaining compliance with all quality procedures and safe working practices, undertaking all works to the highest possible Health, Safety and Environmental standards, whilst safeguarding the wellbeing of all employees.

Principal accountabilities:

• Promote and enhance safety awareness across all operational delivery, encouraging a zero tolerance to unsafe acts and a zero target for LTIs
• Ensure that all project operations carried out within your area of responsibility are undertaken with full regard for the safety and welfare of visitors, other members of staff and yourself
• Provide leadership, motivation and direction to project delivery teams. Stimulating and driving self-delivery, intercompany relationships and trading.
• Efficient management and utilisation of all company resource through planning and effective dialogue with peers / clients
• Develop and update regular activity programmes for all contract responsibilities in accordance with client requirement
• Maintain professional approach positively reflecting the image of the company
• Ensure the safe and efficient running of all contracts to budget with full responsibility for the financial performance of contracts
• Active involvement with supporting cost vs value reporting whilst driving contract efficiencies
• Mapping and deployment of company resources encouraging increased utilisation where appropriate
• Maintain / develop good relations with all key and potential clients incorporating regular meeting and site visits
• Provide regular point of contact for all personnel, administering employment related matters
• Be responsible for site safety by ensuring compliance to method statements and risk assessments using induction / toolbox talks / appropriate use of PPE. Ensuring constant compliance to all applicable CDM regulations
• Interaction with subcontractors ensuring all appropriate information is made available, review and approval of accounts prior to release of payment
• Arrange / convene prestart, progress and review meetings ensuring discussion of variances, contractual arrangements and any required corrective actions
• Maintain compliance with agreed policy on procurement of goods and services, assisting Commercial estimating where required over the procurement of new works assisting with client development
• Provide technical support to Commercial stakeholders during tender periods and receive and ensure compliance with Tender handover packs

The successful candidate will…

• Hold a high level of experience in Highway Construction and Maintenance (essential)
• Have ONC/HNC/HND qualification in Construction / Civil Engineering (essential)
• Minimum 3 years experience in similar or equivalent roles working on projects that include 278 works
• Possess a full clean driving licence
• Hold SMSTS / IOSH certificate
