Middle School Science Teacher

The Louise S. McGehee School is now accepting applications for a dynamic, innovative full-time middle school science teacher who enthusiastically invests him or herself in all aspects of the education process and the school-wide community. Qualified candidates will possess an educational background in science and will have at least two years of classroom teaching experience, ideally in an all-girls or independent school setting. A master’s degree in education or science-related fields is preferred. This full-time teaching position includes a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Preparing a quality age-appropriate science curriculum and presenting the material in an engaging manner and authentically assessing student learning.

Working closely with the Science Department to develop a curriculum that is hands-on and inquiry-based.

Developing cross-curricular projects across the grade level.

Setting clear expectations for students.

Communicating regularly and appropriately with the student, parent, advisor, and division head about student academic and social progress.

Maintaining a comprehensive class syllabus and curriculum guide on the learning management system.

Fullfing supervisory duties outside the science classroom.

Fulfill assigned duties to monitor students in various capacities, as designated by middle school protocols.

Advise a group of students in middle school.

Attending and contributing at grade level, department, division, and faculty meetings.

Acting as a flexible and collaborative member of the community whose work expands beyond the classroom to enhance the student experience at the school.

Modeling a mindset of lifelong learning and the willingness to take risks that serve as growth opportunities.

Fostering an open, inclusive learning environment that supports all students and their families through word, action, curriculum, and teaching strategies.
