Arriva UK Bus are looking to engage a passionate and experience Compliance Business Partner reporting to our Head of Assurance.
You will be responsible for supporting Accounting, Controlling and Finance areas in complying with the German Corporate Governance standard (BilMoG – accounting law) for entities within Arriva UK Bus. The role holder will be responsible for carrying out local testing, updating documentation, providing updates at local meetings, and submitting evidence on the DB IKS Platform in a timely and accurate manner. A key part of the role will be travelling to various locations within the UK so flexibility is a must, working in a hybrid environment of home-working and working from their local office or depot (as appropriate). The role holder may also be required to support other Accountable Owners under the BilMoG process from different areas of the business and undertake other compliance projects (e.g., new policy deployments) as and when capacity allows.
Responsibilities
Support the Head of Assurance & Accountable Owners, taking an active part in the relevant working groups to ensure compliance with DB minimum requirements
Liaise with various internal and external stakeholders to both request and provide key information in a timely manner
Perform regular reviews including walk throughs to ensure they are still compliant with actual processes and policies in place. Where discrepancies are identified (lack of written instructions etc.), documentation to be updated with the support of the Accountable Owners and communicated to relevant stakeholders
Liaise with the Group Assurance Team and Group Legal and Governance Team to ensure all documents in use are the latest version and maintain a catalogue of policies and procedures
Ensure documentation is consistent and aligned with DB / UK Bus / Group policies and updated on an annual basis
To be responsible for closing out audit actions by liaising with Accountable owners ensuring they are delivered within the specified timeframe.
Perform local independent testing of the DB minimal controls and collate evidence monthly
Continuous monitoring of KPIs and reporting any weaknesses identified to Accountable Owners so appropriate action can be taken. Management of residual risks
Managing accounting, controlling and finance section of BilMoG Teams drive to ensure all the latest SOPs, Directives, policies as listed in the ICS are present
To ensure sufficient evidence has been uploaded into the evidence packs by end of November and testing undertaken by calendar year-end for submission to DB
Manage, monitoring and supporting the Accountable Persons in relation to CMS Tax
IT controls – Liaise with relevant internal contacts to perform annual testing and maintaining documentation and document the output of any testing into the Information Security Risk Register for UK Bus
About you
Previous experience of performing internal audit related tasks with the ability to work to tight deadlines
Ability to assimilate information quickly and translate business and functional needs into policy / process requirements
Attention to detail and good retention skills to ensure consistency of policy on long running subjects
Proactive, change oriented, driven, organised and able to communicate effectively across UK Bus
Ability to identify areas to improve processes and follow these successfully through to completion
Lateral thinker, with excellent analytical and investigative skills
Effective written and verbal communication
Computer literate and a proficient user of Microsoft Office applications
Large company experience preferred
Work well as part of a team and on own initiative
