General Ledger Accountant

Motorcar Parts of America, Inc. (MPA), is recognized as one of the largest re manufacturers of Automotive Replacement Parts for North America. We are a publicly traded company registered on NASDAQ and NYSEC under the symbol MPAA.

We have an immediate job opening in our Accounting Department, which will report to and support the Director of Accounting. This position is based at our corporate office in Torrance, California.

JOB * SUMMARY: *

Responsible for the accurate and timely recording of the monthly journal entries into the general ledger and the preparation of quarterly and monthly Accounting reports. Requires frequent interaction with various levels of personnel in Accounting and other departments of the company.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

• Assists with the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
• Assists in the preparation of consolidation files
• Assists in the maintenance of fixed assets database
• Assists in filing government returns and surveys
• Assists in the lease completeness testing and accounting of lease transactions
• Issues CIP numbers and maintain CIP log and database
• Prepares account analysis and reconciliation – BS and IS statements accounts
• Prepares reports including daily management reports and audit schedules
• Liaison with internal and external auditors and other levels of management
• Prepares and inputs journal entries
• Reviews journal entry log, calendar and chart of accounts addition
• Provides explanation of variance between actual and budget
• Other duties maybe assigned by the Accounting Director and/or Accounting Supervisor

EDUCATION AND EXPIRIENCE:

BA / BS in Accounting or Finance

Minimum four to five years of general ledger accounting experience in a fast paced environment

Strong knowledge of GAAP is a plus

Proficient in MS Office

Knowledge of QAD 2008 is a plus

SOX-404 compliance experience is a plus

CPA candidate is a plus
