Position Summary

As the successful candidate you will have passion for developing software. You will be responsible for delivering quality software systems from requirements through write, modify, integrate and test computer code in an Agile environment. Application activities may include new product functionality, troubleshooting and maintenance.

Based in Vancouver, BC, the Front-End Developer (NOC 2174) will be reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer.

Responsibilities

· Participate in analyzing users’ needs and then design, develop and test new features to meet those needs.

· Design procedures to solve complex application programming problems.

· Ensure that program continues to function normally through software maintenance and testing.

· Document every aspect of an application or system as a reference for future maintenance and testing.

· Participate in the maintenance of the established processes and help to improve them.

· Identify, communicate and troubleshoot technical matters and problems.

· Establish and supplement technical documentation, practice good knowledge-management hygiene.

· Maintain excellent business communication with other business functions like sales and marketing.

Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent work experience.

· Several years of software development experience.

· Proficiency with MySQL database.

· Proficiency with Javascript, with libraries such as JQuery and OpenLayers.

· GIS background would be an asset.

· Good familiarity with network concepts as they relate to application design.

· Familiarity with software development processes.

· Strong engineering best practices like continuous integration, industry design patterns and more.

· An analytical mind with strong problem-solving experience.

· Excellent communications skills and experience interfacing and communicating directly with clients would be an asset

WAGES: $43.50 per hour 40 hours/week Permanent Full-time position
