Job Description
About the role
Working within our Partnering group, this role will partner Corporate and Commercial Departments to help develop and execute upon their people strategies, drive engagement, and ensure alignment with Abcam’s overall growth strategy.
Reporting to the Head of HR for Finance & Digital the HRBP will also share a dotted line in supporting HR, Sales & Service and Marketing in discrete projects and initiatives.
Working in collaboration with the Centers of Excellence (CoE), the HRBP will be integral in building their business areas’ talent base, designing their ways of working and operating models, and driving transformation.
Key Responsibilities
Develop strong relationships with leaders across the business areas to establish a level of influence over key decisions regarding talent and people, even in the absence of direct authority,
Understand the engagement challenges of the teams you partner, coach leaders around activities to increase engagement, as well as support and lead on any engagement initiatives,
Be a culture champion in everything that you do,
Act as a coach to leaders around people issues in collaboration with CoE,
Develop a deep understanding of Abcam and its functional capabilities and partner with the functions to assess gaps and develop resolution plans in collaboration with CoE,
Understand Abcam’s people and business strategy and support the development and delivery of functional people strategies that drive real value,
Act as a business facing arm of HR and coordinate with CoE when needed to address business issues,
Ensure people changes are landed successfully through effective communication plans, and help functional leaders manage the impact of changes on the wider team,
Help drive and manage the performance culture within functions,
Help functions to develop demand plans as well as budget and forecasts for heads,
Work with people analytics team to analyze data and trends and provide insight to your function and wider HR team,
Provide support as needed to the HR Advisor on complex employee relations matters,
Collaborate with the Heads of HR and managers to assess and anticipate people-related needs.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience
Strong influencing skills, with the courage to coach and feedback to senior leaders,
Broad knowledge of HR best practices,
Strong bias for action and a “solution orientated” attitude,
Fluent written and spoken English,
Able to work both on a team (as member and/or leader) and independently to deliver results,
Ability to convey ideas and recommendations in a clear, compelling, and succinct way in written and verbal communications,
Good attention to detail and an ability to analyze and use data in decision making,
Strong organizational and multitasking skills with ability to balance competing priorities,
Experience identifying, diagnosing, and resolving issues independently; will take initiative even under unfamiliar or ambiguous circumstances,
Anticipates need to re-prioritize; can shift gears and comfortably makes decisions based on new information,
Flexible and adaptable team player with a supportive attitude towards the team,
Ability to perform in a collaborative, fast-paced environment,
High levels of personal drive and ability to balance multiple projects and processes simultaneously.
Desirable but not essential:
Bachelor’s or First degree in Human Resources, Business or another related field,
CIPD/SHRM qualified or equivalent,
Working knowledge of employment law in relevant countries.
