Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
Undergraduate Student Success coordinates efforts to support undergraduate education at UNC Greensboro through close collaboration with faculty, staff, students, and administrative units across campus, in the community, and with partner institutions.

Reporting to the Office of the Provost, the Undergraduate Student Success champions student success campus-wide through centralized leadership in academic advising, curricular innovation, new student transitions, and direct support of student learning.
Position Summary
The TrACE Academic Advisor is part of the TrACE replication team at UNCG. The UNC System Transfer Accelerate Complete and Engage (UNC TrACE) initiative aims to fund, evaluate, and scale cost-effective strategies to help North Carolina Community College transfer students enrolled at a UNC institution complete their bachelor’s degree. This is a time-limited position funded through a grant from the UNC System Office’s Student Success Innovation Lab, made possible by grants from the North Carolina Governo’s Emergency Education Relief Fund, Arnold Ventures, and ECMC Foundation.
The TrACE Academic advisor will be primarily responsible for delivering comprehensive advice to students in the TrACE program. Including meeting with all students twice per month to review progress in their academic programs, supporting course selection and registration, navigation of credit articulation processes and policies, conducting outreach in response to early alerts, and supporting students’ creation of a degree plan.
The TrACE advisor will also support the creation and delivery of regular presentations and other co-curricular opportunities in collaboration with campus partners as well as a detailed semesterly communication plan to program participants.
TrACE advisors will be required to keep detailed records of student interactions utilizing Starfish, including session notes, appointments, and any recommendations or connections to other university service partners. This position will be an integral part of the implementation team and will participate in regular meetings with the project lead, collaborators, and external evaluators. It is expected that this individual also participates in regular meetings of the Advising Council.
This position may also be asked to support the recruitment of participants into the program and support special events as requested.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in an appropriate discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Strong understanding of the needs and challenges facing transfer or non-traditional students
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, within a department, with faculty, staff, and other administrators
Strong organizational, communication, and facilitation skills
Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records of student interactions
Computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office and Google Suites, Student Information Systems; and an aptitude to learn new systems as needed
Understanding of academic advising best practices and models, experience serving as an academic advisor, interpreting degree requirements, and applying academic policy.
