Job Summary:
Title: QA Engineer Co-Op (2022/2023)

Location: Vancouver

We are currently seeking bright, enthusiastic and hardworking students who strive on challenges for Co-op opportunities in our Engineering Department. The successful applicant will assume the position of QA Software Engineer.

As a QA Engineer, you will build on your current expertise by demonstrating core competencies as a bright and hardworking individual who thrives on challenges in developing new and contributing to existing test methodologies in our team. Projects include the creation of manual GUI tests and automated GUI testing. Some testing requires creative approaches to find fast and effective testing solutions, determining the necessary environment and code supported automation. You would be required to help contribute to such continual testing initiatives, to execute on formulated testing strategies, through discussion with Senior QA.

Pre-requisites:

Currently pursuing an Undergraduate degree, majoring in Computer Science, Information Technology or Engineering

Available for 8 months starting in September 2022

Experience developing applications in Java or C++ in other co-op terms would be an asset

Completion of courses in networking and operating systems

Basic understanding of Linux/Unix

Ability to work with limited supervision, but seeks clarification when required

Willingness and aptitude for finding and reporting software problems

Good analytical and problem-solving skills

Fluent in oral and written English

The following skills would be an asset:

Experience using JUnit and understanding of TDD (Test Driven Development)

Experience with Java web development with servlet technology

Experience with continuous integration tools (e.g., Jenkins)

Experience working with multi-tiered or multi-threaded application

Basic understanding of Apache Ant, Eclipse, GIT, Databases

Responsibilities:

As a QA Engineer, your responsibilities include:

Coordinate with team to ensure timely delivery of project milestones/deadlines

Help ensure projects are completed with sufficient testing to minimize bugs

Writing/Executing new test cases (manual or automated)

Documenting test flows for product GUIs and maintaining a regression test schedule.

Analyzing test results and providing feedback

Employee may be asked to perform other ancillary or related duties as required, to meet the ongoing needs of the organization

May have an opportunity to do UI development as needed by the project
