About the organisation
The Portable Long Service Authority (PLSA) is an independent Victorian Statutory Authority and Regulator, part of the Industrial Relations Portfolio. The Portable Long Service Benefits Scheme began on 1 July 2019 to ensure eligible workers in the community services, contract cleaning and security industries can build up long service benefits based on time in their industry, rather than with a single employer. The PLSA are now the investment funds custodian of over $200 million in cash investments supporting Victorian worker entitlements. Based in Bendigo they are a growing regional team of approximately 50 staff.
About the role
Reporting to the CEO/Registrar, the Head of Finance (CFO) is a key member of the Executive supporting high level strategic decisions and responsible for providing investment strategy and financial management advice. Collaborating with peers on key projects and leading a small finance team through a cultural and transformational journey, this is a people focussed role for a strong finance leader who can build cohesion, develop the team and continue to build and improve finance processes, systems and control. Accountable for the management and governance of financial and budget operations, financial reporting, risk controls, investment management, claims, payroll, taxation reporting and statutory compliance – the role will be both hands-on and strategic – providing tactical and operational support to managers, the CEO and the Governing Board. Coordinating external audits, liaising with other government bodies and relevant stakeholders are all part of this broad role.
About you
A CA/CPA with significant experience as a finance leader, you will ideally have knowledge of investment management/accounting and an understanding of market risks. It is essential that you possess technical knowledge to lead a finance function and experience within the public service is preferred. Personable and engaging, you will be a natural coach and mentor who builds a positive team culture. A strong relationship builder and capable business partner, you will collaborate with peers and manage internal and external stakeholders effectively. With an ability to be both hands-on and strategic in your contribution to the success of the organisation you will become a trusted adviser to the CEO and Board. Local to Bendigo or able to travel 3 days/wk minimum to the office required.
