Our Software Engineering team is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Software Engineer who will be responsible for providing leadership, coaching, and mentoring within the Software Engineering Department.

The Senior Software Engineer provides consultation, solution design, development, support and governance for projects and teams, as well as leading strategic initiatives within the Software Engineering Department and Digital Services. This role will see you manage a small team, providing mentorship and coaching around their technical and behavioural capabilities.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Lead the software engineering disciplines across enterprise-level digital applications, products, services, and solutions. This includes analysis, requirements specification, estimates, standards-based design, development, testing and implementation of these solutions.
• Own and proactively influence the governance, delivery and evolution of technical analysis, design, development, and support of solutions.
• Provide leadership and enablement of peers, teams and stakeholders to uplift their capability, create strong community connections and provide specialist skills and share knowledge to ensure high-quality outcomes.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of software engineering strategies, practices and standards, and gain support for these opportunities by considering the views and gaining support of a diverse range of key stakeholders.
• This role has staffing responsibilities and must therefore ensure staff and own adherence to university policies and procedures

To be successful, you’ll have:

• An equivalent combination of training and experience or a Graduate qualification in Computer Science/Information Technology or relevant discipline.
• Extensive software engineering expertise across a variety of languages, platforms and technologies with a strong record of leading and completing projects.
• Significant experience with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) in a large enterprise hybrid IT environment.
• Experience in leading (and/or managing) a team, providing mentorship and coaching.
