North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust is a medium sized District General Hospital based in Edmonton in Enfield, North London. We serve a diverse multicultural population largely from the London boroughs of Enfield and Haringey. Many of our patients live in wards that are within the 5% most deprived in the UK and a large proportion of our patients were born abroad. This makes it both a fascinating and a challenging hospital to work in. Over the last decade we have rebuilt almost all of the hospital and now have facilities that we are proud to work in. We employ over 3,500 staff, more than half of whom live locally. We encourage apprenticeships from the local community and work closely with our local Health Watch. We are primarily an emergency led hospital with more than 90% of our bed days being used for patients admitted via our emergency and ambulatory units. As well as offering everything you would expect from a major acute hospital we have a number of tertiary services treating patients with HIV and Sickle Cell Disease and a large cancer and radiotherapy service. We also run our local community Sexual Health Clinics.
The Community division comprises of the 0-19 Service, Health Visitor and School Nursing services, that deliver the Healthy Child Programme. As well as a BCG clinic for targeted babies and Canterbury ward, that supports the acute wards.

Assist the Finance Manager in the monthly production of management accounts
Meet reporting deadlines through careful planning and time allocation and discussing and reviewing with line manager until tasks are successfully completed
Preparing journals, recharges and adjustments to enable accuracy in financial statements
Resolve queries from budget holders and managers in a timely manner.
Meet Budget Holders on a regular basis to discuss and explain budget statements and provide financial support as required.
Supported by a management accountant, maintain a template for monthly change in pay spend based on starter and leaver forecast trajectory in a monthly profile and liaising with Finance Managers (FMs) regarding pay forecast.
Liaise with Deputy Finance Managers, rota coordinators, payroll provider and temporary staffing office to resolve any mismatches or queries on a monthly basis for bank and agency staff.
Monthly reconciliation of Electronic Staff Records (ESR) and the ledger to mitigate differences
Input of pay feeders to the general ledger including the correction of errors
Maintain the monitoring process to minimise variances in reporting and provide monthly workforce analysis to FMs on a timely basis.
Investigate any variances and provide a summary in the monthly Divisional reporting pack for permanent and temporary staffing spend trend.
Provide analyses triangulating changes in workforce KPIs (vacancy rates, turnover, sickness rates) and expenditure
Preparing journals, recharges and adjustments to enable accuracy in financial statements
Supervise the preparation NHS Improvement weekly breach agency reports
Preparation of guidance notes on accounting procedures for their tasks
Ability to accurately analyse large quantities of data
Liaison with the customers and with Human Resources, Payroll, and the Purchasing functions in the maintenance of financial controls relating to workforce establishment and procurement of goods and services.
Working closely with colleagues, including Financial Accounts, to ensure a smooth closedown of weekly payment runs.
Compliance with Standing Financial Instructions and Audit requirements
Train non-financial managers in appropriate areas of finance through budget holder training
Ability and significant experience to administer, maintain and interrogate financial and management accounting software systems
