The team
Financial Services Enforcement investigates suspected misconduct and takes formal enforcement action in response to suspected breaches of financial services laws and credit laws. This includes commencing civil proceedings, working with the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecution (CDPP) to secure criminal convictions, and taking administrative action to cancel Australian financial services and Australian credit licenses and ban persons from engaging in financial services and credit activity.

The roles
ASIC is seeking candidates from a diverse range of backgrounds to join the Financial Services Enforcement team as either Lawyers or Investigators, to work to a range of fast-paced, high-profile matters.
As a member of the Financial Services Enforcement team, you will be required to:

• manage and contribute to large complex investigations of suspected misconduct
• work in partnership with other ASIC teams to achieve effective enforcement outcomes
• employ a range of evidence gathering techniques including conducting examinations, interviewing witnesses, taking witness statements and undertaking document review using electronic tools
• derive insights from data, information and documents gathered during the investigation
• identify and provide recommendations on legal, policy and technical issues arising in course of investigations
• prepare briefs of evidence for civil and criminal matters.

With a consultative and collaborative interpersonal style, you will enjoy working as part of a large, multi-skilled team.
For Lawyers: you will have Bachelor’s degree in Law, admission to the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory as a solicitor or barrister and must hold (or be eligible for) a current legal practicing certificate from the relevant State law society. You will have experience in conducting complex litigation, using digital investigative tools and ability to plan, deliver and monitor projects.
For Investigators: you will have Tertiary qualifications in commerce, accounting, criminology law, data science or other relevant discipline. You will have ability to plan, deliver and manage complex investigations. You will have proven experience that involved investigations, case management, project management or detection of misconduct, including the conduct of civil litigation and the preparation of criminal briefs of evidence.
