Position summary

About the Position

In this role you will operate as a Designer and deliver the computer aided design and drafting (CADD) and associated components of planning and design for ‘Green and Brown field’ municipal disciplinary projects.

Key Deliverables of the position:

• Providing design services that are cost effective, practical & meet client expectations.
• Managing assigned tasks and delivering design projects on time, within budget.
• Engage within design project teams by undertaking CADD management software assigned functions for the section.
• Preparing and process planning, survey, and design data, including plans and associated material.
• Reviewing procedures, policies and practices, and recommending improvements relating to the planning and design functions.
• Conforming to policies, procedures and legislative requirements, ensuring design output meets Quality, Workplace Health and Safety, and Environmental standards.

About You

• You have a high level of civil municipal and CADD software experience with the ability to drive and transfer knowledge to the team as required.
• You are able to undertake minor, moderately complex and complex multidisciplinary design projects adhering to project management methodology and consistently deliver design projects on time, within budget, to agreed quality and with a high level of stakeholder satisfaction.
• You have highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills. You utilise your highly developed analytical, problem solving and investigative skills to provide sound advice, options and recommendations to influence project outcomes.

About the Infrastructure Delivery Branch

The Infrastructure Delivery branch is responsible for the delivery of the City’s capital works program, and administration of the Local Area Works and Services (LAWS) program. The branch provides a ‘one-stop shop’ for all infrastructure requirements which includes project management, engineering, drafting, design, construction, cost estimations, survey and material testing.

The branch delivers approximately 800 projects each year. Projects include community facilities, roads and rehab, foreshores, bridges, footpaths, landscaping, parks, stormwater and drainage.
