Equity Residential Hiring for Business Systems Analyst: Accounting and Finance Job at Chicago, IL Full Time

As a Business Systems Analyst on the Information Technology team, your prior accounting or finance experience will be valuable as you recommend technology solutions that will make processes more efficient and employees more productive within our Finance and Investments groups. Core responsibilities include documenting then transforming business requirements into functional and technical design documents and mockups as well as writing and executing test scripts. You will become the subject matter expert on how your business partners use our software. You will work in a dynamic team that includes other business systems analysts and developers to deliver technology solutions that enable your business partners to be successful.

WHO YOU ARE:

• Knowledgeable & Analytical. Your background includes a combination of Accounting/Finance and Information Technology, which you’ve built through both educational and professional experiences. You’re comfortable with requirements gathering, data collection, and data analysis, in addition to problem solving with a customer focus in mind. You also have a broad-based familiarity with creating process diagrams, evaluating trends, and identifying areas for improvement. You’re comfortable with Accounting concepts and understand the routines related to closing financial books. Without a doubt, you’ve got strong analytical skills and you know how to apply them accordingly across a variety of data-related activities. *

• Technologically Savvy. You’ve got a solid proficiency in writing SQL queries. You’re also comfortable working with relational database concepts and have a knack for quickly mastering new software. You’re familiar with how data can flow between systems via integrations/APIs. You’re knowledgeable about the Google (G Suite) platform and how it can enable collaboration and productivity. In other words, technology is one of your closest friends! *

• Business Liaison. When it comes to integrating business processes with systems you enjoy being the conduit with your business partners to lead the project execution and train the end users. You work closely with business and third party vendors to gather needs systematically, review viable solutions, test new functionality along the way, and track post-implementation results. *

Your writing and speaking skills are clear, articulate, effective, and demonstrate your ability to interact with all levels and various teams within and outside the organization. In addition, you’re skilled in compiling and delivering presentations that help to coordinate efforts between business partners, IT, and third party vendors. By delivering clear communication, you help to ensure that projects stay on time, deliverables meet budget, and key stakeholders are aware of project statuses. *

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Works closely with teammates and business partners to analyze and document business requirements for projects and software customizations or configurations. Translates business requirements into functional and technical requirements for development staff.

• Understands data relationships and can write basic SQL statements. Can analyze and compare datasets and look for trends, issues, or areas for improvement.

• Identifies opportunities for automation. Implement technology solutions such as workflows or Robotic Process Automation to enhance business processes and eliminate administrative burden.

• Implements and manages standard testing procedures for system changes. Creates, reviews and executes test plans and validates that it meets the business and technical requirements. Responsible for proper tracking of test results.

• Reviews software upgrades, presents new features to business partners, tests new functionality, and assists with creating training documentation.

• Provides assistance to IT Support to review issues reported from users. Compares data from multiple sources to determine and reconcile discrepancies, determines cause of errors and establishes procedures to correct them.

• Provides project management to coordinate efforts between business partners and IT. Delivers clear communication on status, timing, deliverables, and budget to leaders, team members, stakeholders, etc.

• Responsible for demonstrating a willingness to challenge the status quo in previous assignments.

• Represents the Company in a professional manner at all times. Consistently maintains a professional courteous attitude when dealing with residents, coworkers and the general public.

• Performs other duties as necessary.

Previous Experience & Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Business, Accounting, Finance, or computer science with previous business analysis and/or project management experience is preferred.

• 3+ years relevant Accounting/Finance, business analysis and/or consulting work experience is preferred.

• Key competencies: requirements gathering, conceptual thinking, problem solving, customer focus, managing work efficiently, strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Must be proficient in creating/executing SQL queries and possess thorough understanding of relational database concepts.

• Must be adept with the Google Platform and Microsoft Office suite of products, and have the ability to quickly master additional data collection and management software.
